Circumcision of the foreskin is circumcision.
One of the most common surgical operations is circumcision – cutting off the foreskin. According to statistics, every fifth man in the world has undergone such an intervention. Circumcision is performed for medical, aesthetic, and often religious reasons.
Indications for circumcision of the foreskin
- phimosis is a narrowing of the external opening of the foreskin (both congenital and due to a chronic inflammatory process). It is characterized by problems with urination, dysfunction of the bladder and kidneys, pain during sexual intercourse, problems with fertilization.
- premature ejaculation/premature ejaculation.
- circumcision for aesthetic reasons.
- circumcision for religious reasons.
How is circumcision done?
Circumcision is excision of the foreskin in a circle. It can be removed either partially or completely. There are practically no differences in surgery between adults and children. Modern anesthesia allows the intervention to be performed absolutely painlessly. If the foreskin is completely removed, the head of the penis is always open. If the foreskin is only partially removed, it is half closed when the penis is at rest.
Preparing for circumcision surgery
Before the circumcision operation, you need to undergo the following tests:
- general urine analysis,
- general clinical blood test,
- blood biochemistry,
- coagulogram complex,
- hospital complex (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and C),
- for men over 50 – appointment with a therapist and ECG.
If there are any inflammatory processes, additional studies may be prescribed.
