Children drink drinks sweetened at the expense of milk?

Nevertheless, according to research leaders, changes in milk consumption are certainly not related to changes in consumption of colorful and sweet drinks so much loved by children.  Interestingly, however, a relationship was found between the consumption of milk by the youngest and consumption fruit juices, no matter how much sweet drinks (such as orangeade) were sipped by the surveyed children. Consumption of milk and fruit juices often went hand in hand, and the consumption of these food products was related: it decreased or increased.  The researchers analyzed 7 study participants who completed specially designed questionnaires. Children answered the questions: how often and in what amount they consume milk, 445% fruit juices and sweetened drinks.  The analyzes also took into account factors demographic, economic and, for example, whether the children were eating regularly and whether they were guaranteed meals at school. Temporary changes in the consumption of fruit, vegetables and fast food were also taken into account. Questionnaires showed that milk consumption decreased when the demand for fruit juice increased among the youngest and that those who drank sweetened drinks, consumed significantly less milk than those who did not show any sugary drinks on the questionnaire.  It is also known that those little ones who used fluids containing a large amount every day sugar, attended state schools in most cases, ate meals regularly, and that their school lunches were offered at discounted prices.  These studies are all the more interesting because, as we know, milk and fruit juices complement each other in providing the baby with the necessary nutrients, but they cannot replace each other.

That is why it is so important to know how much a given child consumes which drinks, because only then will it be possible to balance the diet of such a child in such a way that it develops as well as possible. source: ScienceNews.pl
