Fishing for carp
On fishing resources and in the literature, we systematically find information about the differences between fish, which we call carp or carp. Considering that most ichthyologists consider the common carp to be one fish that has several subspecies and domesticated forms, then it is worth clarifying the etymology of the names, which can bring some clarity. “Sazan” is a word of Turkic origin, “carp” is Latin. Most often, it is customary to call fish living in “cultural reservoirs” – carp, in “wild conditions” – carp. Although, always, there may be problems with the “classification” in the case of the capture of fish “escaping” into the river from the ponds and living without human intervention. The name of the fish served as the name of a large detachment – Carps. Common carp is a favorite object of fishing throughout Eurasia. Fish is the main object of many cultural fish farms, it takes root quite easily in regions with a colder climate than in natural habitats. The fish can reach a weight of more than 30 kg. It has four subspecies and several cultural forms.
Ways to catch carp carp
Catching trophy carp, and even more so wild carp, has many features, requires experience and skill. Accordingly, a large number of methods have been invented for amateur fishing of this fish. The most famous are float fishing rods, feeder, tackle for fishing on “hair” equipment. Float rigs: match rigs, pole rigs and blind rigs are most often used for catching small and medium carp. But if there are large specimens on the reservoir, it is worth having strong enough gear. Do not forget that carp – carp is considered one of the strongest freshwater fish.
Fishing rock — sazana on feeder and picker
This is fishing on bottom gear, most often using feeders. Very comfortable for most, even inexperienced anglers. They allow the fisherman to be quite mobile on the reservoir, and because of the possibility of point feeding, quickly “collect” fish in a given place. Feeder and picker, as separate types of equipment, currently differ only in the length of the rod. The basis is the presence of a bait container-sinker (feeder) and interchangeable tips on the rod. The tops change depending on the fishing conditions and the weight of the feeder used. Nozzle for fishing can be any nozzle, both vegetable origin, and pastes or pieces of fish. This method of fishing is available to everyone. Tackle is not demanding for additional accessories and specialized equipment. This allows you to fish in almost any water bodies. It is worth paying attention to the choice of feeders in shape and size, as well as bait mixtures. This is due to the conditions of the reservoir (for example: river, pond) and the food preferences of local fish.
Catching carp – carp on specialized gear for “hair” equipment
Fishing with specialized carp rigs, such as “hair”, will require more serious preparation. Let’s start with the fact that it is carried out more thoroughly, with the use of bait in the form of “bait spots”, the organization of the camp and with a large number of rods. This requires special “Rod Pods”, although less complicated installation methods are possible. Specialized rods are used, often parabolic, with a length of 3.6m or more, and a test of 12 grams or more. An important element of equipment is the presence of electronic bite alarms. This is due to the use of coils of the baitrunner system. Which, in turn, is necessary because of the method of fishing on “hair” equipment such as boilies. Boilies are baits made on the basis of various food components, the main feature, judging by the name, they are cooked using heat treatment. In fact, this is a “dough” or paste, with various additives, rolled into balls and subjected to cooking or heat treatment. The boilie or other components of the bait are attached to a special thread (hair), and a hook of the appropriate size is attached to this “hair” separately. The principle of fishing is based on the fact that the carp finds the bait and draws it into itself. In carp fish, the pharyngeal teeth are deep, and even in the case of “spitting out” the bait, the open hook digs into the edge of the lip. Because it takes time for the fish to “suck up” the bait, it’s considered a good idea to use baitrunner reels that allow the fish to pull line off the spool with little effort. Self-hooking occurs rarely, so the angler must hook the fish after biting. Lines and cords must match possible trophies. For long casts, shock leaders are often used. For the delivery of bait mixtures, various feeders and other devices are used, for example, soluble nets and bags. For mass feeding, slingshots, bait tubes – “cobras”, as well as radio-controlled boats are used. This method of fishing is very exciting, due to the availability of the necessary equipment and the intricacies of fishing, it is one of the most difficult types of fishing. At the same time, it has a large number of fans around the world. It is difficult to describe, in a review article, all the accessories and gear for this fishing method, given that they are systematically replenished with new species.
Other types of carp fishing
Anglers use different methods to catch carp. Depending on the reservoir, it can be caught with the simplest float rods with a blind rig, as well as with donks and snacks. Carp, especially in frequently visited water bodies, is a very fastidious and cautious fish. The main requirement for all gear is stealth, but at the same time, sufficient strength of all elements must be taken into account. As already mentioned, even at the “infant” age, the fish is lively and strong. Regardless of the type of fishing, the most important element in carp fishing is bait, bait and the right bait.
Baits
The best time for carp fishing is the season when the water temperature fluctuates between 18-260C. When choosing a bait, they proceed from traditional principles – wild carp are caught on familiar food items: cephalopod meat, worms, fish or crayfish meat. But in many regions, fishermen fish for porridge and other mixtures that are hardly available to “savages” in everyday life. Fishing stores have a variety of baits available in the form of ready-made canned baits, but it is always worth checking the taste preferences of fish from connoisseurs or owners of the reservoir. For baits and flavorings, most often, the following rule is applied: for cold water – animal baits and weak odors; the warmer the water, the more often the use of vegetable baits and sweet aromas. For all snap-ins, it is possible to use a large number of different granules or “pellets”. Boilies can be divided into bait and attachment. This depends on their cost and the size of the package. The size is chosen based on the intended trophy and its food preferences. As a rule, the large size of the boilie “cuts off” the bites of small fish. In general, it is almost impossible to describe the number of products used for carp fishing. It is better to use the opinion of local anglers and fishing guides.
Places of fishing and habitat
Fish farms for carp breeding exist in the Murmansk region and the Kamchatka Territory. He successfully settled not only in the southern regions, but also in Siberia. A local subspecies is found in the Amur River basin. The natural habitat of fish, on the territory of Russia, is located in the basins of the Black, Caspian, Baltic, North Seas. And also in the river basins of Northern Kazakhstan and Northern China. In their natural habitat, carp are searched for in bottom depressions, near the edges, in bark-covered places, near thickets of aquatic plants, on clay slopes, and so on. Local anglers can point out the places where carp go out to feed. For cultural reservoirs, the movement of fish along bait points is typical.
Spawning
Puberty in fish occurs at the age of 2-5 years. Fish spawning takes place in the spring, when the water warms up to a temperature of 18-200C. Spawning takes place, both in fresh and brackish water, in the coastal zone among aquatic vegetation at a depth of about 1 meter. Most often this happens in the dark, while it is very noisy. At the spawning ground, often the female can be distinguished by size. Do not forget that a large female has the largest amount of caviar.
