Can pets be kept when there is a small child in the house?

“We are responsible for those we have tamed,” is the surprisingly apt phrase uttered by Antoine de Saint-Exupery through the lips of the Little Prince. His character – a sweet, sensitive and sincere little boy – immediately understood what the essence of the relationship between a person and his pet is.

“You cannot betray those for whom you are responsible,” Aditya Raheya slightly paraphrased this expression. She lives with her husband Sanyana Madappa in Bangalore, a major scientific and industrial center of India. It is also called the Indian Silicon Valley – because there are many enterprises serving high-tech industries. And there are also many stray animals.

The couple is not concerned with high technologies, but with the problems of our smaller brothers. They both work at the city’s dog shelter. And at home, of course, they also have a “full bowl” – five four-legged.

When Aditya became pregnant, friends, relatives and even doctors unanimously advised her one thing – to get rid of the dogs in the house. Like, it will be better for the health of their first child.

But for Aditya and her husband, dogs are also children. Only covered with fur. They practically adopted them, raised and looked after them. Therefore, the husband and wife did not heed the advice. And they did exactly the opposite – they included their animals in the family photo session “Our Happy Family”, dedicated to the expectation of the first child. It turns out that pets are waiting for the birth of a child no less than the parents themselves.

“We did this to respond immediately to all critics of our lifestyle. We felt that we had to show how important dogs are in our lives, ”the parents-to-be explained.
