Boxing for children: how old is the lesson, section
Boxing is a sport for strong men. However, you can start doing this sport from childhood. Boxing for kids has its pros and cons that parents need to be aware of.
Pros and cons of training in the boxing section
During training, the child receives harmonious physical development. It develops strength, coordination, endurance and speed. According to these indicators, the small boxer is ahead of his peers involved in other sports.
In addition to physical qualities, the child’s character also changes:
- He becomes disciplined and patient, learns to set goals and achieve them.
- The child gains self-confidence and communicates with other equally self-confident babies.
- The little boxer learns not to give up in difficult situations, to make emergency decisions, and not to give in to despair.
Parents notice that children who are boxing begin to do better in school.
The main negative side of boxing is, of course, injuries. The child cannot avoid bruises and abrasions. Sometimes there are also dislocations, fractures of the fingers, dissection of the eyebrows, etc. Early and illiterate training without general physical training can lead to poor posture, since in this case the muscles develop unevenly. Frequent blows to the head can cause the child to occasionally experience headaches and tinnitus.
It is important to find a good coach for the kid, who will not only develop the child physically, but also explain that it is not worth it to simply apply the acquired skills outside the sports school. Otherwise, the child will constantly get involved in fights, feeling his strength and physical superiority over his peers.
How old is it possible to practice
You can start practicing from the age of four. Choose a group by age:
- 4-6 years old – general physical training with elements of boxing and kickboxing;
- 7-10 – general physical fitness, a deeper study of the basics and boxing techniques;
- 11-12 – younger group;
- 13-14 – middle group;
- 15-17 – senior group.
If you are taking your child to their first workout, prepare shorts, a T-shirt and soft-soled shoes for him. When you understand what the kid likes and wants to continue exercising, you can buy a special boxing uniform and gloves for him.
It is not necessary to make your baby a world champion, you can send him to boxing classes just for general physical development. If a child shows interest in this sport, do not refuse him.
