Benign prostatic hyperplasia – Our doctor’s opinion
As part of its quality approach, Passeportsanté.net invites you to discover the opinion of a health professional. Dr Jacques Allard, general practitioner, gives you his opinion on thebenign prostatic hyperplasia :
Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a very common disease. If you have urinary symptoms (difficulty initiating urination, decreased urinary flow, frequent urination, need to urinate at night, etc.), I advise you to consult your doctor in order to obtain a diagnosis and rule out any other possible causes of these symptoms, such as prostate cancer. As the name suggests, benign prostatic hyperplasia is not a serious disease. On the other hand, it can be quite annoying. The need to treat depends only on the severity of the symptoms and how they affect your quality of life. Usually, drug treatment will be sufficient. When necessary, surgery is still a good option.
