This happened with a couple from America, who for the first time decided to have children. At the end of 2020, the parents-to-be learned that they would have twins and were registered for gynecology. And after a while the doctor literally stunned them with unexpected information. From the beginning of pregnancy, the couple did not use contraception, and the expectant mother … became pregnant again. Now the family is waiting for triplets.
As it turned out, this does happen. And this phenomenon even has a name – superfetation. The mother-to-be, Blondie Bunny, told her story on TikTok. She explained that only 0,3% of the percentage of pregnant women can experience this “two-layer conception.” This is due to the peculiarities of ovulation in some women.
Now Blondie Bunny tells users about her unusual pregnancy, and shares new information that may be useful to others. First of all, she advises not to neglect contraceptives, even if conception has already occurred.
She also clarified that every two weeks an ultrasound examination is carried out – this helps to ensure that two different in terms of gestational age develop normally.
Her “younger” child is developing according to plan, but lags behind the “older” twins by about 11 days – on the basis of this, the doctors assumed that conceptions occurred with just such a difference.
However, as the American found out, raising the scientific literature, it is possible to become pregnant before giving birth at almost any time. Therefore, she believes that she is very lucky, and there is a chance that by the time of birth the pregnancies will be synchronized and this will not create problems for the mother and babies. The blondie admits: before, she and her chosen one thought that they would have to plan several pregnancies, but now they are inclined to cope with it at once.

The frequency of such such changes is higher at an older age. It must be remembered that if a woman in the family has had cases of twins, then the chances of multiple pregnancies are, in principle, higher.
Apparently, the American woman first ovulated with one follicle. Until the moment of implantation, the embryo divided in two, pregnancy with identical twins occurred. After 11 days, the second ovulation occurred – and fertilization. The third embryo was implanted. Thus, the pre-existing twin pregnancy became a triple pregnancy.
Any multiple pregnancy carries a high medical risk. The increased load on the mother’s body is associated with the possible occurrence of uterine tone, which threatens miscarriage. Unfortunately, the frequency of loss of such pregnancies is much higher than in the case of carrying a single fetus.
The rate of pregnancy complications associated with blood pressure, edema and bleeding disorders is also higher. Such patients are recommended to consult additional specialists, including a hemostasiologist. Depending on how the embryos were implanted, a lack of blood supply may form. Sometimes this is expressed in the lag of all or one of the future babies in development – it is important to closely monitor this parameter.
The frequency of operative delivery is significantly higher in multiple pregnancies. According to some generalized data, the frequency of cesarean section reaches 52%, while delivery operations used at the birth of a second fetus account for 8,7% of cases. With monoamniotic (having a common placenta and a common amniotic fluid) double or triple delivery is always only operative. In this unusual case, the chances of a natural birth are close to zero.
