Bath cleaners: how to clean properly? Video
The bathtub, like any plumbing fixture, requires cleaning from time to time. But in order for the bath to retain its pristine whiteness for a long time, it is important not only to wash it from time to time, it must be done so as not to damage the coating.
How to clean an enamel bath
There are many bath cleaners on the household chemicals market. As a rule, these are pastes, liquid gels or powders. Some housewives use for cleaning bathtubs intended for disinfection of toilets: in their opinion, they are more “powerful” and effectively remove dirt. But, unfortunately, the aggressive acids contained in such products corrode the enamel, and after several such cleanings, the bathtub will be hopelessly ruined.
The algorithm for cleaning an enamel bath is as follows: – rinse the surface of the bath; – apply liquid soap or shower gel to a soft sponge and rinse surface dirt from the walls; – rinse the bath again; – use a sponge to spread the specialized detergent over the surface; – leave for a few minutes (the exposure time is indicated in the instructions); – rinse thoroughly with water.
The enamel bath cannot be cleaned with metal wool pads, hard brushes and abrasive sponges – they scratch and thin the enamel
To remove stubborn stubborn stains, rust or lime deposits, use a stronger alkaline or organic detergent. As a rule, their “specialization” is indicated on the packaging of such products. Powerful chemicals are not applied to the entire surface of the bath, but only to the places of contamination that must be pre-moistened, kept for several minutes, and then washed off. If the contamination did not leave immediately, the procedure is repeated.
Do not immediately increase the exposure time, leaving the cleaning agent for an hour or even overnight, as some housewives advise: the shorter the contact time, the safer the enamel
Care for an acrylic bathtub or a bathtub with an acrylic liner must be done with care: the surface is very easy to scratch. Acrylic also does not tolerate aggressive household chemicals, therefore, only special products designed for this type of bath can be used for cleaning.
However, the smooth acrylic surface is very easy to wash: in most cases, in order to clean the bath from dirt, you just need to walk on the surface with a damp sponge and liquid soap, shampoo or dishwashing detergent, and then rinse the detergent with water. When cleaning acrylic hydromassage baths, do not use products with strong foaming: this can damage the hydromassage mechanism.
Clean your bathtub with home remedies
If you try not to use specialized household chemicals, you can tidy up the bath with folk remedies that give a good effect: – you can use a mixture of soda and toilet soap to clean cast-iron bathtubs; – for severe contamination, you can use a mixture of soda with ammonia; – a solution of citric acid or table vinegar will help get rid of lime deposits; – rust stains are removed with soda; – To remove small stains, you can use toothpaste.
