The healing properties of the bark and roots of barberry
The roots of this plant are used to combat cholecystitis, rheumatism and gallstone disease, as well as to treat stomach cramps and diarrhea. At the same time, it is an effective remedy for strengthening the heart muscle. The bark of this plant has the same medicinal properties.
Infusions and decoctions from the bark and roots of barberry increase blood coagulability and have a vasoconstrictor effect, therefore, it is better for people suffering from cardiovascular diseases to refrain from taking this medicine
Healing decoctions and infusions are prepared from the bark and roots.
So, with gallstone disease, it is recommended to take a medicinal decoction, consisting of the following components:
- 15 g roots
- 10 g bark
- 1,5 cup of boiling water
Pour boiling water over the roots and bark, bring the solution to a boil and boil for 27-30 minutes. After the broth is cooled, filtered and diluted to 300 ml with boiled water cooled to room temperature. A decoction prepared according to this recipe is recommended to be taken 50 ml three times a day.
For fractures, dislocations and stretch marks of tendons 1 tbsp. l. crushed dry roots and bark of barberry are poured with 200 ml of hot water, after which the solution is boiled for 3-5 minutes, cooled and filtered. Compresses and lotions can be made from this broth. It is also recommended to drink it 3-4 times a day (for this you need to take 2 tbsp. L. Broth and mix with 100 ml of warm milk).
Useful properties of barberry fruits
Barberry berries are rich in citric, tartaric, malic and other acids. They also contain pectin, vitamins C and K, carotene, sugars, mineral salts, etc. And green fruits are rich in alkaloids.
Eating barberry berries during pregnancy should only be done under medical supervision.
In folk medicine, barberry berries are recommended for use when:

- liver diseases
- jaundice and other diseases
Moreover, these fruits are a wonderful seasoning. And also excellent wine and delicious jam are made from barberry berries. Moreover, both fresh and dried fruits have a healing effect. For example, they make medicinal tea from them. For this, 1 tsp. fruits are poured with 200 ml of boiling water, insisted for 27-30 minutes, filtered and drunk three times a day, 50-60 ml for 15 days in a row.
Application of barberry leaves
Barberry is used as an anti-inflammatory agent for diseases of the liver, as well as the biliary system. To do this, take 10 crushed barberry leaves, pour a glass of boiling water and put in a water bath for 10-13 minutes, and then cool, filter and bring to the original volume by adding boiled water cooled to room temperature. It is recommended to take such a “drug” ¼ glass 4 times a day.
