Antiperspirant – how does it work? Differences between chemical and natural antiperspirant (aluminum free)

The antiperspirant prevents excessive sweating and unpleasant odors. Sweat is rather odorless, but the germs that break it down cause it to smell.

The antiperspirant leaves the skin feeling fresh for a long time and protects it against unwanted odors. One of the main ingredients of the antiperspirant are aluminum salts, which are non-irritating to the skin. The advantage of the cosmetic is also a delicate and pleasant fragrance that does not interfere with the scent of perfume. Antiperspirants do not dry out the skin as it is with classic deodorants. They can be spray, cream, and most often with a ball applicator.

Antyperspirant bez aluminium

In recent years, natural cosmetics based on plant extracts, without parabens, silicones, SLS and other harmful substances (e.g. aluminum-free antiperspirant) have become more and more popular. This also applies to antiperspirants. Opponents of these cosmetics believe that there is a correlation between the use of antiperspirant deodorants and the occurrence of certain types of cancer (e.g. breast). Aluminum salts and parabens found in popular antiperspirants were supposed to affect the action of estrogen (a hormone responsible for the growth of breast cancer cells).

There is no XNUMX% evidence that antiperspirant use could be associated with certain types of cancer. However, moving away from cosmetics produced with classic methods towards natural, based on ingredients derived from nature, will certainly allow us to better protect our health against possible ailments.

Aluminum (aluminum) salts remain on the skin for hours and can pass into the body. The presence of aluminum in the body causes DNA damage and, as a result, the multiplication of cells, which can cause serious diseases. Natural cosmetics also prevent excessive sweating, but their composition does not burden the body as is the case with their chemical counterparts.

Natural antiperspirant versus chemical antiperspirant

Natural antiperspirant also has the form of a stick, cream or ball applicator. It works in exactly the same way as chemicals do: to remove the unpleasant smell of sweat and refresh the skin. Some antiperspirants also have an antibacterial effect. The only problem may be very strong sweating, which not every natural cosmetic can cope with.

A natural cosmetic usually consists of:

  1. skin care substances – the skin under the arms is quite sensitive, and frequent epilation may lead to irritation, which is why proper care is so important. Extracts of aloe or bamboo, and essential oils that not only nourish, but also smell beautifully and delicately,
  2. flower water – refreshes and cleanses,
  3. bamboo powder – has an antibacterial effect,
  4. alum – odorless, does not penetrate the skin, has antibacterial properties and does not cause allergies.

The best antiperspirant without aluminum – Vichy, Nivea and others

The best natural aluminum-free antiperspirants are available even in popular drugstores and pharmacies. To meet the expectations of their customers, well-known cosmetic companies offer products that care for health and long-lasting feeling of freshness. You can reach for example Nivea Fresh Natural antiperspirant, Vichy antiperspirant for sensitive skin and after depilation. There is also the product Adidas Adipure, thanks to which the skin breathes freely, Bioterm Deo Pure without parabens and aluminum or La Roche Posay, a physiological deodorant.

Baby antiperspirant?

A baby antiperspirant is not a necessary choice. In case of a few-year-olds, it is enough to take care of personal hygiene in a proper way. If you really need to, a mild deodorant is the best solution to give your skin a delicate scent. An antiperspirant, instead of for a child, will be much better for a teenager who may struggle with the problem of excessive sweating during adolescence.
