Antidral is a drug used to treat excessive sweating of the skin surface. This is an over-the-counter skin lotion that contains aluminum chloride to reduce the activity of the sweat glands. The agent is intended for external use on the skin, e.g. armpits, hands and feet. How is Antidral used? What side effects can it cause?
Antidral – co to za lek?
Antidral is an OTC drug (over-the-counter) to be used on the skin for excessive sweating. The preparation is in the form of a transparent, straw-colored or colorless skin liquid. Antidral also smells like alcohol because of the ethanol it contains.
Antidral’s action is based on aluminum chloride, which reduces the activity of sweat glands, inhibiting the secretion of sweat by them. The remaining ingredients of the preparation reduce the risk of epidermal infections and improve the absorption of the active substance.
Antidral – indications
The use of Antidral is recommended for people who suffer from excessive sweating of the skin of the feet, armpits or hands. The preparation intended for external application can alleviate or eliminate these troublesome ailments.
Antidral – contraindications
Like other medications, Antidral should not always be used. Contraindications to the use of the liquid are hypersensitivity (allergy) to the active substance, i.e. aluminum chloride, or any other component of the preparation. Due to the fact that the drug is intended for topical application to the skin, it should not be used when the patient has damaged the epidermis, as well as after depilation or shaving.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using Antidral.
Antidral – warnings
People who struggle with excessive skin sweating and use Antidral should use the preparation on the skin only in the places mentioned in the leaflet. It is recommended to be careful and avoid contact of the preparation with mucous membranes or eyes.
The skin surface should not be washed immediately before applying Antidral. If you use the lotion under the arms, do not shave these areas for 12 hours before or 12 hours after applying the product. If you use Antidral on shaved skin, you are likely to experience skin reactions.
Avoid contact of Antidral with clothing as the liquid may discolor or destroy it.
Antidral – application
Antidral is a liquid intended for external application to the skin. Before using Antidral, wash the skin thoroughly and dry it without rubbing. The frequency of using the preparation depends on the severity of the symptoms:
- intense sweating – apply daily at night;
- less intense sweating – apply to the skin every second or third day, or as needed.
The preparation should be used in accordance with the instructions, because its overdose may cause irritation. If they occur, it is recommended to lubricate the irritated skin with a hydrocortisone cream. In this case, you may decide to reapply Antidral after these symptoms disappear.
Antidral – composition
The main ingredient and active substance of Antidral is aluminum chloride, the content of which is 100 mg per 1 g of the preparation. The excipients contained in the preparation are ethanol (500 mg per 1 g of the drug), glycerol, purified water and hydroxyethyl cellulose.
Antidral – side effects
In some cases, Antidral may cause side effects. Most often they include symptoms such as skin irritation, burning or itching, as well as erythema. If the aforementioned symptoms occur, the preparation should be discontinued. If you experience any other side effects, please inform your doctor about them.
