Aging of the body depends on moles

Scientists counted moles on the bodies of 900 participants, and also measured the length of telomeres in their cells – these are the end fragments of chromosomes that are responsible for protecting DNA from damage.

It is the length of telomeres that is considered the main indicator of the aging of the body. Accordingly, the longer they are, the slower the wilting occurs. So, it turned out that the cells of the owners of more than 100 moles are “younger” by about 6-7 years.

The conclusions of scientists are very unexpected, since until recently, the main feature of people with an excess of moles on the body was considered an increased tendency to skin cancer – melanoma.

According to the author of the study, Dr. Veronique Bataille, the “owners” of a large number of moles do have a small risk of malignant neoplasms, but they are less likely to face age-related diseases – diseases of the heart, blood vessels and joints.
