A little about sports nutrition. Harm or benefit?

A little about sports nutrition. Harm or benefit?

For a long time, there has been an opinion on the lips of many people that sports nutrition – this is a real time bomb that a person who is a “fanatic” of this food system is gradually destroying his health. But is it really so? Let’s try to figure it out.

As they say: how many people, so many opinions. It is impossible to say for sure where this bad rumor about sports nutrition came from. Who could have launched it? Anyone. But this is not so important. There is a more troubling question: what is the reason for this? But if you go deeper and do not look for the root of the problem on the surface, it becomes clear that there is not one reason at all.

Firstly, many people believe that sports nutrition is a chemical product that does not contain a single gram of natural. If on your way you meet a person who tells you exactly that, then you can safely say to him that this is complete nonsense! Because sports nutrition is a concentrate of conventional nutrition. Simply by using a special cleaning technology, ballast substances and unnecessary components are removed. For example, products of dairy and whey origin (Whey Protein, protein isolates) have undergone a special procedure, thanks to which you will not find saturated fats and carbohydrates in them.

If you look at the biochemical process that occurs with the body in the process of performing certain physical exercises, you will notice that some substances (complex amino acids, branched-chain amino acids, glutamine, creatine, vitamins, many minerals) are consumed quite quickly. And if we do not replenish their supply in a timely manner, then our body will not be at all sweet, as well as its owner. Indeed, thanks to the “filling” with these substances, the body quickly recovers and comes to a state of efficiency. It is on the basis of these components that most nutritional supplements used in sports nutrition are made.

Secondly, there is an opinion that supposedly sports nutrition negatively affects the work of the entire gastrointestinal tract, overloading it. Of course, to some extent this statement is true, but it most likely applies to those who are really fanatical about the consumption of various nutritional supplements. If you look at this problem from the other side, then all the supplements used in sports nutrition, just supplement the usual well-built diet.

Thirdly, many are convinced that, for example, any bodybuilder can easily do without all these nutritional supplements. In their opinion, it is enough for an athlete to include in his daily diet more fruits, vegetables, nuts, meat and eggs. But if you approach this matter in this way, then it is unlikely that you will be able to make your diet fully balanced. It should be borne in mind that people involved in “muscle building” have quite specific tasks that are very difficult to solve without the use of food additives.

The excitement associated with exclamations about the dangers of sports nutrition, gradually begin to fade away. Now more and more doctors and professional trainers unanimously declare that nutritional supplements are necessary for an athlete, which will undoubtedly help in the rapid recovery of the whole body and achieve the best sports results.
