The auction house New York Sotheby’s it was once again breaking a historical record by selling the most expensive wine in the world last Saturday. Bottle of the finca Romanee Conti, considered one of the best Burgundy wines, was from the 1945 vintage and was part of Robert Drouhin’s personal collection.
The estimated price of said bottle was 27.669 euros, however, its final value was 17 times higher, reaching the 482.490 euros. A record that far beat one of the record figures in the sector that awarded the position to Spanish wine AurumRed and its bottle the work of the artist Alberto Rodríguez Serrano and whose price was 340.000 euros.
La bottle of Romanee Conti belongs to a production of 600 bottles made 1945 , just before the vines were uprooted to be replanted. The lots sold belonged to the personal collection of Robert Drouhin, who from 1957 to 2003 directed the wine producer Joseph Drouhin House, one of the most prominent in Burgundy.

The brand is considered one of the best wine producers in the world. Its plantation, in the Cote de Nuits region, covers less than two hectares, so that its annual production is of between 5.000 and 6.000 bottles per year.
Minutes after breaking the record, another bottle of the same brand was auctioned off. It was sold for 428.880 euros. The auctions of this type of bottles reach astronomical figures, a sector on the rise that a few days ago was in the news again with the sale of the most expensive whiskey in the world, this time by the auction house Bonhams. A Scotch whiskey from The Macallan which sold for 848.750 pounds (958.000 euros) at an auction held in Edinburgh.
