The Kursk Magnetic Anomaly (KMA) is located in the Kursk, Belogorodsk, Oryol regions. This is the largest region on our planet, which is incredibly rich in iron reserves.

The scientist N.D. solved the riddle. Pilchikov, who observed the KMA and suggested that it arose due to the large deposits of iron ore in this area. For this discovery, he received an award – a silver medal. Later, the first deposits were discovered here, and ore mining began.
