Zomiren is an anxiolytic drug, a derivative of a benzodiazepine, which acts as an anti-anxiety drug, seizure disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. Its active ingredient is alprazolam. The drug is in the form of tablets that can also help you sleep and reduce muscle tension. Zomiren is addictive in long-term therapy, so it is recommended to take small doses of it. Monotherapy is also not recommended for treatment. You must not drink alcoholic drinks while taking Zomiren.

Zomiren – indications, contraindications, side effects

Zomiren is used in the case of:

  1. anxiety disorders (panic or generalized anxiety disorder)
  2. anxiety
  3. irritability,
  4. sense of danger,
  5. feeling insecure
  6. overactivity of the vegetative system (manifested by muscle tension, increased heart rate, dry mouth, sweating, a feeling of breathlessness and tightness in the throat).

Zomiren – contraindications and precautions

Zomiren should not be used by people who are hypersensitive to any of its ingredients. You should inform your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to have children, as taking this medicine has been associated with fetal malformations. If you are taking antihistamines, psychotropic drugs, antiepileptics, digoxin and macrolide antibiotics, please also inform your doctor. Zomiren should not be used in the case of liver failure, in people under 18 years of age and in respiratory failure.

Zomiren – possible side effects

If you take Zomiren, you may experience undesirable side effects such as drowsiness, light-headedness, visual disturbances (blurred vision), headache and dizziness, fatigue, tinnitus, decreased psychophysical fitness, decreased appetite, confusion, problems with concentration. Uncommon side effects include hyperprolactinaemia, gastrointestinal disturbances, liver dysfunction, jaundice, aggression, altered libido, altered thoughts, urinary incontinence or retention, dermatitis.

Symptoms of unknown frequency include: edema, hepatitis, dyspnoea, oropharyngeal narrowing. Occasionally severe anaphylactic reactions occur.

Zomiren Sr

Zomiren Sr with the active ingredient alprazolamum is a sedative and anxiolytic drug in tablet form intended for short-term treatment as it can be addictive. You must not drink alcohol while using it. It is usually prescribed for panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and anxiety with secondary depressed mood. It should not be used during pregnancy and lactation. The doctor should also be informed about the taking of anti-epileptic drugs, antihistamines, drugs acting on the central nervous system, as well as about all the drugs you take, even those without a prescription. In the case of liver failure, lung failure or glaucoma, the doctor should also be notified.

The side effects of using Zomiren Sr are: drowsiness, dizziness and headache, lightheadedness, cognitive impairment, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blurred vision, allergic skin reactions.

People who take Zomiren have extremely different opinions. Patients complained of lethargy and a feeling of dullness, the drug works badly in combination with nicotine (excessively stimulates), so it is not recommended for smokers. However, as an anxiolytic drug, it has a reputation for being extremely effective and helpful.

6. Dosage:

Anxiety Disorder with Secondary Mood Depression:

– adults initially 3 × 0,25-0,5 mg / day (Zomiren) or 1 mg / day or in 2 divided doses (Zomiren SR); the maintenance dose is 0,5–4 mg / day in 2-3 divided doses (Zomiren) or 0,5–4 mg / day or in 2 divided doses (Zomiren SR);

– elderly people initially 2-3 × 0,25 mg / day (Zomiren) or 0,5-1 mg / day or in 2 divided doses (Zomiren SR); the maintenance dose is 0,5–0,75 mg / day in 2-3 divided doses (Zomiren). Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia:

– adults initially 0,5–1 mg at bedtime (Zomiren) or 0,5–1 mg / day or in 2 divided doses (Zomiren SR); if necessary, the doctor may decide to gradually increase the dose every 3-4 days, not more than 1 mg / day; the maintenance dose is 4 mg / day in divided doses, in exceptional cases 8-10 mg / day in divided doses (Zomiren) or 4-6 mg / day (Zomiren SR).

7. Contraindications to use:

  1. liver failure
  2. respiratory failure,
  3. in people under 18 years of age,
  4. hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

8. Interactions: If you are taking antihistamines, psychotropic drugs, antiepileptics, digoxin, macrolide antibiotics, please inform your doctor.
