Zombie – a cocktail that turns into a walking dead

Tropical cocktail with a formidable name based on three types of rum. Juices hide the burning taste of strong alcohol, making the drink soft, but this softness is deceptive. “Zombie” quickly intoxicates, and sometimes completely knocks down.

Historical reference. The Zombie cocktail recipe was invented in 1934 by the owner of the famous California bar Don Beach. According to one version, the drink got its name due to its quick intoxicating effect. Two servings turn most patrons into zombies. It is also sometimes used as a hangover cure. In composition and taste, it is similar to Mai Tai. Immediately after the appearance of “Zombie” became popular at home. In the 30s, he often flashed in Hollywood films or movie characters mentioned him.

Composition and proportions:

  • golden rum – 20 ml;
  • dark rum – 20 ml;
  • light rum – 20 ml;
  • apricot liquor – 15 ml;
  • cherry liqueur – 15 ml;
  • pomegranate syrup (grenadine) – 5 ml;
  • pineapple juice – 30 ml;
  • orange juice – 30 ml;
  • ice cubes – 200 grams;
  • crushed ice – 250 grams;
  • orange – 1 slice;
  • cocktail cherry – 1 piece.

Zombie Recipe

1. Mix three rums, liqueurs, juices and grenadine in a shaker with ice in cubes. Shake vigorously several times.

2. Fill a glass with crushed ice, then pour the mixture from the shaker into it.

3. Decorate the finished cocktail with an orange slice and a cherry.

4. Drink through a straw.
