Zocor is a film-coated tablet medicine used to lower triglycerides, lower levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, and increase levels of “good” cholesterol. Zocor prevents atherosclerotic lesions and their complications.

The action of Zocor

Zocor reduces blood triglycerides, reduces the level of “bad” LDL cholesterol, increases the level of “good” cholesterol and lowers the level of total cholesterol. In this way, Zocor prevents the development of atherosclerotic lesions and their complications.

Indications for the use of the medical preparation Zocor

Zocor is taken to reduce high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. The drug reduces the risk of cardiovascular complications due to the development of atherosclerosis.

Contraindications to the use of Zocor

Liver function tests are recommended before administration of Zocor.

Zocor is not recommended for patients with secondary hypercholesterolaemia, i.e. those whose high levels of total cholesterol, including LDL cholesterol, are caused by conditions such as hypothyroidism, nephrotic syndrome, dysproteinemia, biliary obstruction or alcohol abuse or taking other medications. .

Zocor should not be taken concomitantly with other medications to lower blood cholesterol, immunosuppressants, bile acid sequestrants and oral anticoagulants. Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking at the moment, including those available without a prescription.

Zocor is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

How is Zocor used?

Zocor is taken orally in the evening at bedtime. The dose and frequency of taking the drug is determined by the doctor.

While being treated with Zocor, you should be on a diet to help lower your LDL cholesterol level. This diet should also be continued after you stop taking the drug.

Side effects of Zocor

In some cases, treatment with ZOCOR may cause digestive problems such as constipation, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain. There may also be dizziness and headaches, muscle cramps and pain, pins and needles, peripheral neuropathy, alopecia, itching, and skin changes.

In rare cases, skeletal muscle breakdown may occur.

Precautions when using Zocor

Do not drink grapefruit juice while you are taking Zocor, as it may interact with the medicine. You should also avoid drinking alcohol while taking Zocor.

Zocor should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The preparation should be stored at room temperature, in a tightly closed container, out of the sight and reach of children.

Zocor has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
