Zemklunika: description of varieties

Zemlunika is a relatively new plant that has taken the best qualities from its ancestors. The berries of the hybrid are not inferior to them in aroma and are superior in endurance. Several dozen varieties of this beautiful bush have been bred.

Features of the varieties of the earthworm

This berry was obtained by crossing wild strawberries and garden strawberries. Outwardly, it looks like a garden strawberry, but differs in many ways. The common thing was the wonderful aroma hovering over the garden.

The earthworm is not too different in appearance from strawberries, but her yield is higher

If we compare the differences between the hybrid and the strawberry in the summer cottages, then the hybrid will have advantages. The following qualities of the improved berry can be distinguished:

  • The taste of the hybrid is brighter than that of strawberries.
  • Inflorescences rise high above the leaves, there are much more of them than strawberries.
  • The berry has a high yield from one bush.
  • The hybrid is resistant to diseases and pests.
  • It is not subject to decay, the berries simply dry out.
  • The frost resistance of the hybrid is higher.
  • The bushes look much more elegant than those of strawberries.
  • These fruits are easy to transport, they do not wrinkle.

Some disadvantage can be considered a decrease in the size of the fruit in the second year, but this does not affect the harvest.

Description of varieties of earthworms

There are dozens of varieties of the aromatic plant. Some of them are especially popular:

  • “Kupchikha” is one of the most popular varieties. It was bred in 1980. Its berries are large, irregular, dark red with a purple tint. They are dry on the outside and juicy on the inside. From one bush, you can get up to 300 g of fruit.
  • “Nadezhda Zagorya” is a fruitful variety. He has tall bushes with about 20 inflorescences. Round maroon berries ripen at the end of June. The variety is resistant to many diseases.
  • Candied nutmeg has strong and lush bushes. In spring, the flowering is so abundant that the foliage is practically invisible. The harvest can reach 250 g per bush, and the maximum berry weight is 30 g. Its fruits are burgundy and have a strong aroma. They appear at the end of June.
  • “Penelope” is a variety resistant to bad weather and cold. It produces a large yield despite its small berries. Its fruits are round, neat in shape, dark red with a purple tint. Productivity from a bush is about 300 g. Fruits ripen by the beginning of July.

Each plant is not inferior to another in taste and aroma and gives a good harvest.

The fruits of this plant can be eaten fresh, compotes and jams can be prepared. They require less maintenance than garden strawberries and are less sick. And the sight of large bushes, strewn with beautiful white flowers, will finally dispel doubts about the right choice.
