Zelenka: useful properties

Interesting facts about the “green diamond”

Zelenka is the most common antiseptic. Like tincture of iodine or ethyl alcohol, brilliant green immediately destroys all pathogens and sterilizes the oiled area of the skin.

The fact of using brilliant green only in the CIS countries is very surprising. Having visited any other country, you can be sure that there is no greenery on sale in any pharmacy. The reason for this is insufficient study of the mechanism of action of this antiseptic. This is what raises doubts among Western adherents of evidence-based medicine.

The discovery of brilliant green as a synthetic aniline dye was carried out in the XNUMXth century by the English chemist William Perkin. Since brilliant green in its quality characteristics surpassed natural dyes, it began to be intensively used in the weaving industry. Several decades later, doctors realized that this dye is also suitable for disinfecting wounds.

The only side effect of using brilliant green is its intense and persistent color.

The exact name of the brilliant green – comes from the French brilliant vert. The basis of this dry antiseptic is shiny green lumps. In Latin they are called viridis nitentis, which translated into Russian means “green shiny”. Viridis nitentis was first translated into French as brilliant vert and then into Russian, where “brilliant” was mistakenly replaced with “brilliant”.

Thus, due to the mediocre translation, the current name of brilliant green is the result of an error

Zelenka, in comparison with iodine, is much better suited for cauterizing large wounds. After it, there are never scars on the skin, which cannot be said about iodine. Since it dries and burns wounds, it is commonly used for treating scratches, disinfecting around wounds and, if necessary, drying the skin. Treatment with brilliant green is rather mild. It aims to stimulate wound healing without the side effect of drying the skin.

Instructions for removing brilliant green from various surfaces

Due to the extraordinary durability of the green color, it is quite difficult to get rid of it. It makes no sense to wipe the stain dry, rinse it off with water, or even wash it with regular powder.

Here you need to attract special funds, including:

  • alcohol solution (only for smooth surfaces such as plastic, wood or metal)
  • bleach (able to remove the stain instantly)
  • hydrogen peroxide (rub intensively for several minutes)
  • lemon (should not be used near the eyes)
  • oily cream (do not apply to particularly sensitive tissues)
