PSYchology

“The woodpecker doesn’t have a headache” and “Boys”, “Summer trip to the sea” and “Ascent”, “The story of Asya Klyachina …” and “Mom got married” — films based on scripts by Yuri Klepikov are recognized classics. This author is always more interested in the acute and conflicting beginning of human life and/or the beginning of personality than other themes.

“The woodpecker doesn’t have a headache” and “Boys”, “Summer trip to the sea” and “Ascent”, “The story of Asya Klyachina …” and “Mom got married” — films based on scripts by Yuri Klepikov are recognized classics. This author is always more interested in the acute and conflicting beginning of human life and/or the beginning of personality than other topics. An adherent of the «old» cinematic prose (rather than the current «American» script), Klepikov creates a full-fledged psychological picture. Any reader is his own director and can build one more film in addition to the existing one. And in the book there is a script that, in fact, did not become a film, “The Stranger”. The second part of the collection is stories about his own life and colleagues: Ilya Averbakh, Dinara Asanova, Larisa Shepitko, Ilya Dunsky and Valeria Frida. The autobiographical story “Notes of a Former Boy” about childhood and an extensive interview, as they say, of a mature master complete the portrait. Polygonally sharp and harmonious, like a ball.
