We decided that it was time to create a New Year’s atmosphere at home and fill the air with the fresh scent of pine needles, and went to visit Olya Shuleva in her La Peonia florist salon. It was there that this wonderful composition for decorating the table was born. Below is a step-by-step master class from Olya for those who want to create the same beauty!
So, we need:
- oasis (floristic sponge that can be watered), film, rubber band;
- packaging for flowers (we took natural mesh), tape or twine;
- thin long candle;
- wire, artificial snow (it can be replaced with a combination of fine layers and hairspray), scissors, pruning shears;
- spruce branches (we called soft Dutch spruce);
- Hyperium berries, decorative brunia cones, cotton flowers, pine cones (slightly dusted with artificial snow).
Floral sponge, mesh, twine
We soak the floral sponge in water, wrap it with foil and tighten it with an elastic band (so that water does not flow onto the table). After that, carefully wrap the sponge over the film with the mesh that you have chosen, and fix it with tape or twine.
Now we place all living materials in the work area: now we will need them.
A waterproof film is hidden under a beautiful mesh
Now we take the spruce branches and begin evenly, in a circle, to insert them into the sponge above the film line. We try to repeat the growth pattern of live spruce branches. And we remain vigilant: artistic disorder is very difficult to create, our habit of order strives to intervene and force us to do everything according to a ruler!
Is the bush ready? Then carefully place the candle in the sponge.
The next step: we add beauty with the help of berries and cones, in the final we add cotton flowers.
The decoration is ready! If you do not forget about watering, it will be well worth it until the New Year, or even before the Old New!
“For our composition, we used only live materials. If you add a little New Year’s motives to the plants, for example, balls or snowflakes, bears or angels, then the decoration will be brighter, festive – albeit less natural. The choice is yours!” – says Olga Shuleva.
Ready! You can serve the table
The editors would like to thank the La Peonia salon for their help in organizing the shooting.
