“You would be perfect if you lost weight”: the story of one unsuccessful acquaintance

Communication on a dating app is a kind of stress, because not everyone knows how to ask questions about someone else’s life and talk interestingly about their own. But what if the interlocutor is not the most pleasant? The first step, of course, is to cross him off your list of potential friends. The second is to put it in place beautifully.

The first acquaintance, especially on the Internet, is a situation full of awkward phrases, pauses and thoughts: “Did I say (a)?” Of course, anyone can make a mistake by telling a stupid joke. But comments on the personality and appearance of the interlocutor are a completely different matter.

Kathy Lacy is famous for her stories about chatting on dating apps. She shares funny and strange stories on TikTok: for example, among them there is a story about a user who was offended by the silence of a new acquaintance and threatened that he “would never introduce her to his mother.” And also about a man who scolded a girl for belonging to the “lower class”.

But another video brought her fame: in it, Katie recounted the correspondence that the man began with the words “You would be perfect if you lost 7 pounds (about 3 kg).” You are so pretty”. And a little later he added: “Sorry, I hope you don’t get offended by this. I am a personal fitness trainer.

The girl not only did not block the user, but also decided to enter into a dialogue with him: “Well, okay. I was offended until I found out that you, it turns out, have the authority to shame me for my body.

Apparently, it was not the first time her interlocutor allowed himself to comment on someone’s appearance and faced indignation. So he checked with Cathy, “whether everything is fine with them.” Hearing in response that the girl understood that it was only constructive criticism, the man calmed down and was even delighted: “Absolutely. Glad we’re on the same side.”

But he did not take into account that not only he can play this game. Therefore, I was sincerely surprised by her message: “You would be perfect if you were a different person.” The answer to his “What?” was Cathy’s laconic comment: “Don’t worry, I’m a psychotherapist. I have the authority to recognize bad character.”

But for some reason, the coach could not accept “constructive criticism” from Katie and began to explain to her that “you can’t talk to a man like that.”

Hearing again that she could “lose weight for him”, Katy ended the conversation and shared what happened with the users. As a result, the video gained more than two million views and three thousand comments – everyone was delighted with the girl’s endurance.

Someone remarked, “I just witnessed a murder.” Another user pointed out that men are always angry when women start to match their energy – that is, to behave just like them. The vast majority agreed with the opinion of the girl, who said that she would never meet with a personal fitness trainer. And it’s understandable why.
