“You take care of others, also take care of yourself” – May 15, the National Day of the Guardian of the Elderly

A year ago, for the first time, the Nursing Academy launched the initiative of the National Day of the Elderly Guardian. The aim of the initiative is to support a large group of people who help seniors. May 15 is an opportunity to appreciate their work and enable them to gain knowledge and help in their daily duties.

For years, the demand for specialist care directed at the elderly has been increasing. This work gives great satisfaction and pleasure from being able to help others. However, this profession also requires a lot of responsibility and constant contact with the student / ward. This is why many carers face difficulties, both physical and psychological.

– Our activities are directed to people professionally involved in caring. We want to both strengthen their competences and be support in difficult moments that arise when working with older people – says Tomasz Piłat, director of the Careers Academy.

It is also worth remembering about natural guardians, who are often the closest – husband or wife, children or grandchildren. Therefore, the Day of the Caregiver of the Elderly is addressed to all those who care for seniors – without any restrictions. The Carers’ Academy, known for organizing workshops, symposia and training meetings, has prepared special events to help those who care for the elderly and the sick on a daily basis. Therefore already On May 15, three free telephone lines will be launched, where each guardian will be able to seek advice. At the number 12 347 64 99 the shifts will be performed by:

  1. nurses with many years of experience (10:00 – 16:00),
  2. qualified psychologist (10:00 a.m. – 14:00 p.m.),
  3. a lawyer who will provide information on the organization of home care and institutional care (from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.).

We encourage you to take advantage of the help carried out as part of the National Day of Elderly Guardian and celebrate together with the Carers’ Academy.
