Yohimbine – properties, application, contraindications

Yohimbine is a substance obtained from the bark and leaves of yohimba – a tree found in Africa (mainly in Cameroon). This drug is available on the market in the form of yohimbine hydrochloride – a product of chemical synthesis, extracted for the first time in the 50s. This plant has been appreciated as an aphrodisiac for centuries. Initially, it was used during wedding feasts and ritual orgies. Yohimbine, which is also sometimes referred to as the tree of love or the potency tree, is on the list of pharmacological agents available on prescription in Poland. It can be helpful in the treatment of potency disorders. Increasingly, it is also used to reduce body fat, but it causes serious health problems. Their source is the necessity to take large doses of this substance, which can lead to death.

Yohimbine – properties

Action gardener is based on blocking certain receptors in the body, which may improve the functioning of the sympathetic system, including the increase in the secretion of the hormones: adrenaline and noradrenaline into the bloodstream. The sympathetic nervous system is responsible for activating the body and responding to various factors.

Among the main properties of yohimbine lists:

  1. increasing the level of norepinephrine (its increased secretion in the sympathetic nervous system),
  2. increase in the secretion of epinephrine by the adrenal glands,
  3. relaxation and dilation of blood vessels (vasopressor effect).

The task of this alkaloid is to stimulate both the erectile center in the spinal cord (thereby causing the penis to erect) and the ejaculation center (accelerating and enhancing sperm ejaculation). Johimbina in some cases, it may also increase the mood, increase libido and increase the sensitivity to tactile stimuli, as a result of which the perception of sexual sensations may be enhanced. Action gardener usually lasts for two to four hours.

Yohimbine – dosage

The research carried out so far has not given an unequivocal answer to the question of what kind yohimbine dose could be considered safe, and what it would cause side effects. In clinical trials it was used johimbinę in an amount from 20 to 100 mg, although the most commonly taken dose was 50 mg daily. Such an application gardener did not side effects.

Yohimbine – contraindications to taking the preparation

Among the contraindications to the use of preparations containing johimbinę you can replace:

  1. heart diseases,
  2. thyroid,
  3. hypertension,
  4. stomach and duodenal ulcers.

Because of that johimbina it can enhance the effects of other drugs, it should not be consumed in parallel with, for example, tyramine – an organic chemical compound whose excess increases blood pressure. The reaction that occurs between tyramine and yohimbine worsen undesirable side effects. During the course of treatment, it is necessary to follow strict dietincluding yellow cheese, red meat, wine, fish and chocolate – these products contain large amounts of tyramine.

Yohimbine – side effects of taking the preparation

Taking gardener may cause side effects, the most common of which are:

  1. accelerated heart rate,
  2. feeling nervous
  3. excessive agitation,
  4. increased sweating,
  5. high blood pressure
  6. dizziness,
  7. hallucinations,
  8. muscle tremors
  9. reddening of the skin,
  10. nausea and vomiting
  11. headaches and dizziness,
  12. polyuria,
  13. pupil dilation.

Yohimbine – dangerous slimming preparations

Johimbina it also has a thermogenic effect, thanks to which this substance exerts an effect on alpha-adrenergic receptors, thus enabling reduction of adipose tissue from the most vulnerable, most resistant areas of the body (abdomen, buttocks, thighs). Taking this substance causes an increase in norepinephrine, as a result of which it intensifies lipolysis of fats.

The danger increases when such preparations are purchased from illegal sources. In such cases, it cannot be guaranteed that the preparations contain appropriate and safe preparations doses active substance gardener. Even more importantly, they also don’t guarantee that it’s actually an extract from gardenerand not some other chemical replacement. The most risky, however, is that dose hydrochloride to affect the effect reducing body fat, is dangerously high – it can cause seizures, hallucinations, over-stimulation and even lead to a heart attack and death.
