Obesity is a chronic civilization disease that every fifth of us fights against. On the other hand, every other person has a predisposition to being obese. Usually, increasing the amount of adipose tissue leads to the development of atherosclerosis and other diseases of the cardiovascular system. There are many ways to fight excess fat. Recent studies have shown that the plant cultivated e.g. in Brazil and Argentina gives new hope for overcoming obesity. Yerba mate, because we are talking about it, prevents the development of many diseases and supports the slimming process.
What is this little-known plant and what are its properties?
Yerba mate is found in the subtropical region of South America. The leaves of this evergreen plant contain a lot of valuable vitamins – A, B1, B2, C, H, PP and a number of minerals, e.g. sodium, potassium, magnesium, iron, sulfur, phosphorus, copper. An infusion in the form of tea is brewed from the leaves of yerba mate, and together with the brewing process, cinnamic acid and chlorogenic acid are released, which have antioxidant or antioxidant properties (these compounds remove excess unnecessary, unfavorable substances from the body that remain in our body after eating food) . What gives the body this action? First of all, it prevents skin aging and inhibits the development of wrinkles.
In addition, yerba mate contains caffeine derivatives, which stimulates the nervous system, improves concentration and memory (prevents the development of atherosclerosis). This extraordinary plant has other health properties – it reduces the feeling of fatigue, increases the body’s immunity, strengthens teeth and bones, prevents anemia, and improves heart function.
But how does it fight obesity?
According to many clinical studies, yerba mate has a very positive effect on the slimming process. This tropical plant has been proven to slow down the activity of pancreatic lipase, an enzyme that digests fats. As a result of its inhibition, fats are not digested in the small intestine, which means that the meal does not contain so many calories. An important effect of yerba mate is the ability to slow down the excretion of food from the stomach, thanks to which it seems to us that we are full and we do not want to reach for snacks between meals.
Preparation.
There are two versions of this plant. Elaborated — plain mate containing stems and leaves, shoveled – a stronger version of mate, which does not contain stems. You can also meet roasted or black mate, which has a slightly tart taste almost like grain coffee. However, it is lower in caffeine. In addition, flavored mate with fruit or herbs are available on the market.
There are several ways to brew yerba mate. In addition to traditional brewing in a teapot with grounds, you can buy mate already ready without grounds and brew like normal tea. It should be noted that it is weaker. Mate is best drunk within 30 minutes of finishing a meal. By drinking mate once a day between lunch and dinner for at least a month, we are able to notice a change in the form of a smaller waist circumference and accumulation of fat in visible places.
Currently, yerba mate is experiencing its renaissance, especially in Poland, it is being talked about more and more often, thanks to famous travelers who promote its good health properties.
