The bright yellow fly agaric is a poisonous specimen from the Amanitov family, but in some countries it is eaten. It has a hallucinogenic effect, so it is better to refuse to collect bright yellow fly agaric.
Description of the bright yellow fly agaric
The yellow fly agaric (pictured) is notable for its variability in color. Its hat can be pale straw, bright yellow or even orange. Therefore, the identification of the fruiting body is difficult.
Cap Description
The surface is smooth and dry. The cap diameter can be from 4 to 10 cm. Young specimens have a convex cap, which straightens with age. The edges of the cap are furrowed.
The plates under the hat are soft, often located. In young specimens, they are white, with age they may turn yellow, acquiring a light ocher hue.
The flesh of the mushroom is white, but sometimes slightly yellow. The smell is vaguely reminiscent of the aroma of radish.
Spores broadly ellipsoid, white powder.
The remains of the bedspreads on the hat are presented in the form of white flaky plates.
Description of the leg
The leg of the fly agaric is bright yellow, fragile, slightly elongated – 6-10 cm, white or slightly yellowish. The diameter of the stem is 0,5-1,5 cm, in young specimens there is a ring, which disappears with age, leaving a barely visible trace. The surface is smooth, in some specimens slight pubescence is observed.
Volvo is poorly distinguishable, presented in the form of narrow rings on the swelling of the legs.
Where and how does yellow fly agaric grow
The bright yellow fly agaric forms mycorrhiza with coniferous trees, but is found in mixed and deciduous forests with lindens, beeches, oaks, hazel, and hornbeams. Prefers sandy soils. The main habitat is the temperate zone of the European part and Eastern Siberia, but the mushroom is occasionally found.
The main period of fruiting falls on the warm season: from June to October.
Edible bright yellow fly agaric or poisonous
The use of this type of mushroom can lead to poisoning.
Effects of hallucinogens on the body
Fly agaric pulp contains toxic substances that have a toxic effect on the human body:
- ibotenic acid acts on glutamine-sensitive receptors in the brain, increasing motor activity, an overdose is fraught with a convulsive state;
- muscimol leads to blocking of brain receptors, which causes depression of emotional activity.
The composition also includes other toxins (tryptophan, muscaridine, muscarine, hydrocarbolinecarboxylic acid), which have a slight effect on humans and cause a hallucinogenic effect.
Symptoms of poisoning, first aid
Symptoms are similar to signs of poisoning that occurs after eating panther fly agaric:
- thirst;
- severe dehydration;
- nausea;
- vomiting;
- cramping soreness in the stomach;
- increased lacrimation, salivation, sweating;
- dyspnea;
- pupil dilation or constriction, lack of reaction to light;
- fast or slow heartbeat;
- dizziness;
- bouts of fear;
- impaired consciousness, delusional state;
- hallucinations;
- convulsions.
If the intoxication is insignificant, improvement is observed after a few hours. A severe form of poisoning is manifested by convulsions, coma and death. Death can occur within 6-48 hours.
First Aid
- Call the medical team.
- Before their arrival, do a gastric lavage. Give the victim to drink 5-6 glasses of warm water or a weak solution of potassium permanganate, after which a gag reflex occurs. Repeat the procedure several times. Collect the remains of mushrooms for laboratory research.
- If there is no diarrhea in the first hours after taking the mushrooms, you can use a laxative.
- If possible, make a cleansing enema.
- With chills, a person is covered, warm heating pads are applied to the limbs.
- If the victim vomits, he is given a weak solution of salt to drink in small sips. A glass of water will require 1 tsp. salt.
- If the victim complains of severe weakness, you can give strong tea with sugar or honey. It is allowed to drink milk or kefir.
Twins and their differences
Yellow fly agaric can be confused with the following mushrooms:
- float yellow-brown differs in smaller sizes, it has no remains of a bedspread on the hat, the leg is even, without thickenings. considered usable;
- toadstool – inedible appearance. The color of the cap is lemon-yellow, may be greenish-gray. Plates of a pale lemon-yellow hue, yellowish at the edges.
Conclusion
Fly agaric bright yellow is a hallucinogenic mushroom from the Amanitaceae family. When ingested in small amounts, it causes hallucinations and a disorder of consciousness, the use of large doses leads to cardiac arrest and death.
