Yeast top dressing of pepper

It is impossible to get healthy seedlings without using fertilizers. Some summer residents prefer ready-made chemical fertilizers, while others try to use only natural remedies. One of the most affordable and effective remedies is yeast. Feeding pepper with yeast can significantly improve yields, enhance the plant’s ability to resist diseases and unpleasant weather factors.

Yeast composition

The composition of yeast is not constant, it depends on many factors. The main substances that make up the yeast:

  • Amino acids;
  • Nucleic acids;
  • Lipids;
  • Carbohydrates;
  • B vitamins;
  • Ergosterin;
  • Minerals.

All these substances are very important for plant growth. If you use yeast as a top dressing, the plants will receive enough nutrients for intensive growth. Plants that do not experience nutrient deficiencies during intensive development tolerate stressful situations more easily, such as cold weather, lack of sunlight, and transplanting.

Yeast top dressing can be easily prepared at home, this does not require any special tools.

Yeast contains a group of minerals, which includes:

  • Calcium;
  • Magnesium;
  • Iron;
  • Copper;
  • Phosphorus;
  • Sodium;
  • Potassium;
  • Zinc.

All the minerals in the yeast are in a special form that facilitates easy absorption by the root system from the soil.

Since yeast contains a small amount of potassium, it is necessary to combine the use of yeast supplements with the application of wood ash or other sources of magnesium fertilizers.

Important! Gardeners in their reviews claim that the effect of using various types of yeast to feed peppers is no different.

In addition to the rich chemical composition, yeast has the ability to improve soil structure. The use of a yeast solution promotes the intensive growth of soil bacteria, which significantly increase the availability of trace elements for plants, processing the organic matter contained in the soil.

You can use yeast fertilizing for most garden and ornamental crops; peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants respond best to yeast fertilizing. It is undesirable to use yeast for feeding garlic, onions, potatoes.

Nutrient Deficiency

Bulgarian pepper seedlings at home develop rather slowly, this is the most vulnerable stage of growth. The lack of nutrients and microelements at this stage negatively affects the further development and productivity.

By the appearance of the plants, you can see that the seedlings are deficient in nutrients. Usually summer residents pay attention to the following:

  • Seedlings develop very slowly;
  • Lower leaves lose color;
  • Seedlings are often sick;
  • The leaves are deformed, acquire an unusual color for them.

The reason for the slow development of seedlings is most often a deficiency of nitrogen and magnesium. In this case, the process of photosynthesis slows down, metabolic processes inside the plant do not proceed fast enough. As a rule, the root system of such plants is well developed.

Important! If peppers are grown on a north-facing windowsill, lack of sunlight may be the cause of slow growth.

Another reason for slow growth is phosphorus deficiency. In this case, the root system of plants suffers, the lack of this trace element does not allow it to develop. The plant experiences acute starvation, including oxygen. If phosphate fertilizer is not applied on time, the seedlings may die.

The loss of color by the lower leaves most often indicates a lack of potassium and magnesium. These trace elements are involved in all metabolic processes, full-fledged photosynthesis is impossible without these substances.

Lack of nutrients weakens the immunity of seedlings, such plants are very easily affected by fungal and bacterial diseases. In this case, complex top dressing is necessary for peppers, the fertilizer complex must contain magnesium.

Lack of phosphorus and iron can cause deformation of the leaves, most often such leaves are noticeably smaller. Due to the disturbed process of photosynthesis, the color of the leaves may change.

Duration of fertilizer application

It is advisable to start fertilizing at the stage of seed preparation. Pepper seeds take a long time to germinate, treatment with a yeast solution can speed up this process.

Bulgarian pepper seeds are soaked for two to three hours in a 10% yeast solution, you can add a teaspoon of wood ash. After processing, the seeds are rinsed under warm running water, dried a little.

Advice! During the preparation of the soil for growing seedlings, it is advisable to add wood ash to the mixture, about 1 grams will be needed per 100 liter of garden soil.

It is important to mix the ingredients well. Feeding the pepper with yeast and ash will provide all the nutrients it needs.

After the seeds hatch, the phase of active seedling growth begins. After the first true leaves appear on the seedlings, it is necessary to apply a yeast top dressing for the first time so that the plant has enough nutrients for growth.

The resulting complex of nutrients will be enough for pepper seedlings for 2-3 weeks, after which it is necessary to repeat the application. Be sure to fertilize with yeast 3 days before planting in the ground, this will make it easier for the seedlings to get used to the new place.

In the future, yeast top dressing is carried out once a month.

Recipes

Despite the fact that it is almost impossible to overdose yeast-based fertilizers, following the recipe will allow you to achieve the maximum effect. The following recipes will show you how to make the most effective pepper feed from yeast.

Classic recipe

The most common pepper fertilizer recipe includes the following ingredients:

  • Yeast – 200 gr;
  • Water – 5 l.

Yeast is kneaded with the addition of a tablespoon of sugar to speed up the process of reproduction of fungi. The resulting homogeneous mass is mixed with water, left to infuse for 2 hours in a warm place. After that, dilute 1 part of the solution in 10 parts of water. Seedlings and adult peppers are watered with the resulting yeast fertilizer, 0,5 liters of solution will be needed for one young plant, and a liter for an adult.

Milk recipe

To prepare this recipe you will need the following:

  • Yeast – 200 gr;
  • Milk – 5 l.

A small amount of milk is mixed with yeast and sugar so that no lumps remain, added to milk. Milk and yeast placed in a warm place should stand for at least 2 hours, after which 50 liters of water are added to them. The resulting solution is poured over the soil around the peppers, consumption – up to 1 liter per plant.

Weed Recipe

Weed grass can also serve as a source of nutrients and trace elements for peppers. To prepare the infusion you need:

  • Mowed grass – 1 bucket;
  • Bread – 1 loaf;
  • Yeast – 500 gr;
  • Water 5 l.

The cut grass is placed in a barrel, at least 50 liters in size, it is necessary to dilute the yeast and grind the bread. The fermentation process of the fertilizer takes about 2 days, if the weather is cool, it may take 4 days. The consumption of the solution per plant is up to a liter.

Recipe with chicken manure

To prepare this fertilizer for pepper, you need to prepare:

  • Chicken manure – 2 cups;
  • Wood ash – 2 cups;
  • Sugar – a third of a glass;
  • Yeast – 100 gr.

All ingredients are mixed in a clean container, the infusion time is 2 hours. After preparation, for top dressing, it is necessary to dilute the mixture in 10 liters of water.

The use of natural means for feeding peppers will allow you to get a rich, tasty and safe harvest.

I have been using pepper dressing with yeast and ash for several years in a row, I really like it. The main thing is that I know exactly what the fertilizer consists of, and I can be sure of the safety of the ingredients, this fertilizer is easy to prepare at home. I water peppers with fertilizers with yeast every two weeks, this is enough to start a good harvest. I alternate feeding only with yeast, using an infusion of herbs and chicken manure. Peppers are like a selection, smooth and fleshy.

I read the way to fertilize pepper with yeast last year in the reviews on the forum, I decided to try it on my beds. To be honest, he didn’t impress me. I did not get a big harvest, the fruits are few, small. Although, maybe I used too little fertilizer, or they needed to be fed more often. The only thing is that this fertilizer was liked by homemade pepper “Ogonyok”, it immediately noticeably pulled itself up in growth. I won’t use it anymore for garden peppers, I’ll buy special ready-made fertilizers.

I have been using yeast fertilizing for a long time, I fertilize peppers, tomatoes and eggplants. The harvest is consistently good, sometimes even excellent. Such top dressing is inexpensive, there is no need to look for fertilizers in special stores, you can buy it at the nearest grocery store. I used both dry and live yeast, I did not notice the difference. Most often, I prepare such a mixture for top dressing: yeast, onion peel and ash. This mixture has all the necessary nutrients, it does not burn the leaves and roots. The solution is safe for people and bees, this fertilizer can be used if there are small children.
