Xylogel 0,1% can be purchased over the counter. It is recommended to use the preparation in order to reduce the swelling of the nasal mucosa, reduce its congestion and the amount of secretion produced. The agent is helpful in the treatment of ailments related to inflammation of the paranasal sinuses (chronic or acute), rhinitis (allergic or acute caused by bacteria or viruses), and acute otitis media.

Xylogel 0,1% – dosage

Xylogel 0,1% nasal gel should be used by administering the nasal substance according to the instructions provided in this leaflet. Remove the protective cap from the tip of the bottle before each use. Before using the product for the first time, press the dispenser 3 to 5 times until the gel appears. In order to administer the drug, the tip of the dispenser must be placed in the nostril, keeping the package upright, and then the dispenser must be pressed once.

Recommended dosage of Xylogel for children older than 12 years and adults, it is one dose in each nostril every 8-10 hours.

Attention

Xylogel 0,1% can be used for a maximum of 3-5 days. One bottle should be used by one person. If the gel is used for too long or in too high doses, secondary drug-induced rhinitis may occur.

Xylogel 0,1% – contraindications

Reaching for Xylogel is not advisable in all situations. People who have this disease should not use the drug allergy to xylometazoline or other ingredients of the preparation. Other contraindications include atrophic rhinitis, removal of the pituitary gland, or other procedures that expose the dura mater.

Xylogel 0,1% – composition

Xylogel 0,1% nasal gel consists of:

  1. xylometazoline hydrochloride – 1 mg of this active substance is in one gram of gel;
  2. sodium chloride;
  3. sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate;
  4. edetynian disodu;
  5. disodium phosphate dodecahydrate;
  6. benzalkonium chloride (solution);
  7. sorbitol;
  8. glycerol;
  9. hydroxyethyl cellulose;
  10. Purified Water.

Side effects of Xylogel 0,1%

Taking Xylogel 0,1% may cause side effects in some people. In such cases, there are local symptoms such as irritation or dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, burning sensation in the throat and nose. The very rare side effects in people using Xylogel are 0,1% symptoms of a systemic naturewhich include:

  1. headaches;
  2. nausea;
  3. weakness;
  4. vision problems;
  5. fatigue and drowsiness;
  6. palpitations;
  7. allergic reactions (including angioedema or dyspnoea);
  8. high blood pressure;
  9. increased heart rate.

Xylogel – types of preparation

Xylogel is available in several different concentrations:

  1. Xylogel 0,1% – nasal gel (1 mg / g) suitable for children over 12 years of age and adults;
  2. Xylogel for kids – nasal gel (0,5 mg / g) for children aged 3 to 12 years.

It also appeared on the market medical device Xylogel Hydro – moisturizing nasal gel, which is designed to alleviate the symptoms of dryness and burning of the nasal mucosa, especially in the case of runny nose, infections or contact with adverse external factors (e.g. dry air).
