Xefo Rapid is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic medicine that acts on the musculoskeletal system. Xefo Rapid can be used for the short-term treatment of acute pain.
Xefo Rapid – characteristics
The active substance of the preparation Xefo Rapid jest lornoksykam – a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) from the oxicam group that it exhibits anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. Lornoksykam prevents the synthesis of prostaglandins, substances that play an important role in the development of inflammation. The drug’s task is to inhibit the activity of cyclooxygenases (both COX-1 and COX-2), i.e. enzymes involved in the reactions leading to the formation of prostaglandins from the lipids of cell membranes. Lornoksykam has no antimicrobial effect. Lornoksykam penetrates the placenta. It is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After oral administration, the maximum concentration in the blood is obtained within 30 minutes after administration of the preparation.

Xefo Rapid – contraindications
A contraindication to use the drug Xefo Rapid is hypersensitive to any component of the preparation. This drug should not be applied in a situation where they occurred allergic symptoms to acetylsalicylic acid (colloquially called aspirin) or to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. ibuprofen, ketoprofen). Moreover, it is not recommended application prepared Rapid Xefo in people:
- with thrombocytopenia,
- with severe heart failure,
- with bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, from cerebral vessels or with other haemorrhagic complications,
- with active or recurrent gastric and / or duodenal ulcer disease, bleeding or perforation, including the use of NSAIDs,
- with severely impaired liver or kidney function,
- in women in the third trimester of pregnancy,
- in women during breastfeeding,
- in children and adolescents up to 18 years of age.
Xefo Rapid – dosage
Preparation Xefo Rapid comes in the form of film-coated tablets, which you take orally. Initial dose place Xefo Rapid is 16 mg daily. After twelve hours, your doctor may recommend an extra one doseswhich may be 8 mg. In the subsequent treatment with the drug Xefo Rapid the patient is taking 8 to 16 mg per day. There is no need to modify doses place Rapid Xefo elderly patients.
Xefo Rapid – side effects
Use of the drug Xefo Rapid can induce side effectsthe most common of which may be the following symptoms: mild and transient headache, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, indigestion, diarrhea and vomiting.
