Write your fear

One way to get rid of fears is to draw them, psychologists say. And they offer us to check on our own experience. As did the German illustrator Fran Krause.

Not even like that. German illustrator Fran Krause decided to turn his own and others’ nightmares into … comics! The charm of the project “Deep Dark Fears” (lit. “deep dark fears”) gives a choice of subjects: real, but the most strange and bizarre phobias come to life in his drawings (1). For example, such: “I am afraid that when I rub my eyes, they may move to the side” or “What if in the morning I go to the bathroom and accidentally brush my teeth with a razor instead of a toothbrush.” Some fears arise from childhood memories or parents’ not-so-successful attempts to explain to their child how the world works. Others seem completely inexplicable. And yet, judging by the number of comics posted on the artist’s website, such phobias are not such a rarity. Do you have a couple of stories for Krause?
