Celebrate Parents’ Day 1 June. The date coincides with International Children’s Day.

In an effort to draw attention to any event or phenomenon, the United Nations dedicates certain days to them. So, in September 2012, at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly, it was decided to establish the World Day of Parents (Global Day of Parents). Since 2013, he has appeared on the calendar. The purpose of the holiday is to remind about the role of the family, parents in the upbringing of children.

Holiday traditions

On June 1, many events are held related to International Children’s Day, and the traditions of celebrating Parents’ Day are only being formed. The best way to celebrate it is, of course, to see your family, to get together for several generations. Arrange dinner, review old albums, write down the memories of your grandparents, moms and dads. Don’t forget to take a memorable photo. If you live far from your parents, call them on June 1st.

In addition to the holiday established by the UN, a number of countries have their own Parents’ Days:

  • In India, July 24th.
  • In the Congo – August 1.
  • In South Korea – May 8th.
  • In the US, it is the fourth Sunday in July.

Similar holidays

Mother’s Day is celebrated differently in every country. So, in Our Country it is celebrated on the last Sunday of November, in a number of European countries – in May, on the first, second or last Sunday.

Father’s Day also does not have a single date.

Brothers and Sisters Day is celebrated on April 10th. Sister’s Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. Brother’s Day is May 24th.

May 15 is International Day of Families. And in Our Country there is also the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity, July 8th.

October 1 is the Day of the Elderly.

September 7 is considered Grandchildren’s Day.

November 20 is considered World Children’s Day. It was on this day in 1959 that the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, and 30 years later, the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

There is another holiday, International Children’s Day, established in 1949 by the Congress of the Women’s International Democratic Federation.
