Few people know about World Kiss Day in our country. But in Our Country, this holiday is ignored completely undeservedly. Little is known about him, and such an unforgivable gap in knowledge must be urgently corrected.
Invented by a dentist: the history of the holiday
World Kissing Day is celebrated July 6, and 2022 will be no exception. The holiday has been around for more than a hundred years. It was invented at the end of the 60th century in Britain. Moreover, according to some reports, the initiator of the “kissing” holiday was … a dentist. In general, he reasoned sensibly: if people begin to kiss more often, then oral hygiene will be monitored more carefully, and people will be drawn to dentists. It is not known whether the resourceful doctor had more clients, but the holiday took root and subsequently spread to other countries. Today he is honored in XNUMX states, mainly in Europe and America. In Asian and Arab countries, due to the local mentality and traditions, the popularity of the date is not so great – it is not customary to show feelings publicly there.
Flash mobs in the pool: holiday traditions
They celebrate World Kissing Day, as you might guess, with kisses. Moreover, it is not necessarily romantic – friendly “smacks” on the cheek and prim kisses of the hand are quite suitable. In many cities of the world, various contests and competitions for couples are held on this day. For the longest or most unusual kiss, the winners are even awarded prizes. And of course, it cannot do without “kissing” flash mobs. For example, several years ago in New York, hundreds of couples in Times Square repeated the kiss of a nurse and a military man from the famous 1945 photograph. And in Rimini, Italy, such a romantic championship was approached quite creatively – records were set under water there, lovers plunged into a special pool in the shape of a heart.
They kissed on July 6 in Our Country. And not only in Moscow – for example, in Tyumen, almost three thousand people once took part in a festive action.

On average, a person spends two weeks kissing throughout his life.
The world record for the longest kiss was set by a security guard and a housewife from Thailand in 2013. They kissed continuously for 58 hours 35 minutes and 58 seconds. At that time, the lovers had to eat through a straw, not sleep, and even go to the toilet together. Such sacrifices were rewarded with a prize of more than three thousand dollars and two diamond rings. Our records were also noted – in 2005, Arkady Stepanov kissed a Porsche car for 58 hours and 42 minutes and became its owner for this.
Most people – 65 percent – tilt their heads to the right when kissing.
The kiss in the cinema was first shown on the screen already in 1896 in a 30-second video, which was called “The Kiss”. Exactly thirty years later, Warner Bros. Pictures released the film Don Juan, which is considered the most kiss-rich film, with 191 similar episodes in it.
There is a special science that studies human kisses, philematology. This discipline was officially recognized in 2009.
Help to lose weight and defeat wrinkles: what are the benefits of kissing
- Relieve stress. In the blood of a kissing person, the level of the stress hormone cortisol decreases, and the concentration of the “love hormone” oxytocin, on the contrary, increases.
- Replace fitness. During one energetic kiss, 8 to 16 calories are burned. And also “smacks” are an excellent prevention of wrinkles, as they involve about 30 facial muscles. The main thing is to work with full dedication.
- Save from caries and headaches. The saliva that is released during the process contains calcium salts, phosphorus compounds and even natural antibiotics. Together, these substances strengthen the enamel of the teeth and carry out a kind of prevention of caries. And the expansion of blood vessels with a kiss helps relieve spasm during headaches.
- Prevent lung diseases. During and even after a kiss, the lungs take 60 breaths per minute instead of the usual 20. Good gymnastics is an excellent prevention of respiratory diseases.
