The initiator of Ice Cream Day was the American company Ben & Jerry’s. In 1987, friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, after graduating from an ice cream making course, opened an ice cream shop. They hoped to earn money to buy a truck so they could become truckers. But the ice cream parlor quickly became popular. In 1979, to celebrate the anniversary of starting the business, they held a free ice cream day. Then this day spread throughout the country, and then in the world.

Ice cream has a long history. In ancient China, cooks prepared refreshing dishes from a mixture of ice, snow and fruits, and later – milk and ice. Desserts resembling frozen juice also existed in ancient Israel, Greece and Rome. Christian Nelson began making chocolate-coated ice cream and called his invention “Eskimo Pie” (Eskimo Pie).

In Our Country, since the 1791th century, there have also been refreshing delicacies based on frozen milk, cottage cheese, sour cream and other ingredients. Thus, the recipe for ice cream from The Newest and Complete Cookbook (XNUMX) included cream, egg whites, chocolate, lemon, orange and berries.

The ice cream machine was invented by Englishwoman Nancy Johnson in the 1840s, but she sold the patent to the Americans. Her compatriot Agyness Marshall proposed a new way of serving ice cream: in a waffle cup.

Since 1851, the production of ice cream on an industrial scale began: the first factory appeared in the USA. In Our Country, such production began in 1932, after Anastas Mikoyan, who headed the People’s Commissariat for Food of the USSR, became interested in ice cream during a visit to the United States.

The first ice cream parlor was also opened in the US in 1945.
