In many countries of the world on the second Friday of October they celebrate World egg day (World Egg Day) – a holiday for all lovers of eggs, omelets, casseroles and fried eggs …
There is nothing surprising in this. After all, eggs are the most versatile food product, they are popular in the cuisine of all countries and cultures, largely due to the fact that their use can be very diverse.
The history of the holiday is as follows: in 1996, at a conference in Vienna, the International Egg Commission announced that the world “egg” holiday would be celebrated on the second Friday of October. The Commission is convinced that there are at least a dozen reasons for celebrating Egg Day, and many countries, especially egg producers, readily responded to the idea of celebrating the egg holiday.
Traditionally, on this day, holiday enthusiasts hold various events – family contests on the theme of eggs (the best drawing, the best recipe, etc.), lectures and seminars on the benefits and proper use of this product, promotions and flash mobs. And some catering establishments even prepare a special menu for this day, surprising visitors with a variety of egg dishes.
Many bad things have been said about eggs over the past decades, but recent scientific studies have shown that there is absolutely no need to avoid eating eggs. They contain high-value, many essential nutrients for the body, including essential vitamins and minerals, as well as antioxidants that help with certain diseases. Also, contrary to popular belief, eggs do not raise cholesterol levels. Therefore, it is very possible to eat one egg a day.
Interestingly, according to some sources, Japan is recognized as the world leader in egg consumption. Every inhabitant of the Land of the Rising Sun eats, on average, one egg a day – in Japan there is even a famous children’s song “Tamago, tamago!”… In this competition, the Russians are still noticeably behind. Experts believe that the reason for everything is the variety of semi-finished and instant products. Remove industrial semi-finished products from the diet, include an egg dish in one of your meals, and your well-being will certainly improve!
By the way, Americans pay their respects to this precious product by hosting every year.
In honor of the holiday, we offer it with a calculated calorie content. Choose which one is right for you!
