World Congress of Gastronomy and International Relations

Expofooding Madrid, arrives with the new month to the capital of Spain, to consolidate gastronomy as a bridge between the different cultures of the planet.

Expofooding is a World Congress, where Gastronomy and International Relations are the basis of the conferences organized by one of the members affiliated with the World Tourism Organization, the World Gastronomy Institute (WGI Spain) and the UNESCO Chair in Food Culture and Development UOC. It is a World Conference prepared to promote the analysis, study and dissemination of gastronomy through the exploration and search for convergence with the International Relations of the members of the different entities that will participate in the sample.

In an interrelated and convergent way, the importance of Gastronomic tourism, It was already discussed in the last edition of the FITUR International Tourism Fair, in relation to the campaigns to disseminate the gastronomic reality, such as the one presented by MAGRAMA with the Journey through the landscapes and flavors of Spain, and in this plane everything will turn the core of conferences that support the congress.

Gastronomy as an engine for development and social transformation.

The event is of great interest to representatives and teachers of Universities, embassies and diplomats, and in general gastronomy professionals, who will join the congress’ mission to promote their gastronomic cultures.

The main objectives of the conference are:

  • Gather and foster relationships in a forum for dialogue and encounter.
  • Collaborate to help the understanding of the peoples; and promote guarantor and sustainable gastro-tourism.
  • Serve as a platform and speaker for social movements that promote quality agri-food.
  • Globally position gastronomy as an instrument of social transformation.
  • Generate interest and tourist traffic to the participating countries and the destinations involved.

The activities of Expofooding Madrid

The Congress will be divided into two large areas, which are grouped under the names of Simposium y Foro Gourmet.

  • The first is a Congress, academic and technical, which is mainly focused on experts and professionals in the gastronomic field.

It will be well represented by the participants in the Seminars and Round Tables on professionalization in gastronomic tourism and the Workshops in which the congressmen and attendees will be able to carry out a very interesting networking on current topics such as Superfoods, Intangible Heritage, or the SlowFood movement.

In this area, the celebration of the EXPOFOODING World Conference Gastronomy and International Relations, with the awards ceremony “the Golden Orange International Awards”, awarding the work done by various Organizations, Entities, Companies, Personalities, Experts and Professionals in the fields of Diplomacy, Gastronomic Tourism, Protocol, Social Disclosure, Academic, Associationism, Internationalization, Cooperation, Development, Entrepreneurship, Concord and Institutional Impulse in gastronomic issues and International Relations.

  • The second becomes a Forum open to all audiences, where the recreational and informative activity coexists with the exhibition of the official representations of various countries, which offer and represent their true cultural heritage based on gastronomy and its tourist variety.

Within this framework, the “Nations Cup” contest will be held, where it will be possible to witness the exhibitions of the Master Pastry chef Jordi Bordas and the ham cutter Florencio Sanchidrián,

The exhibition activity is completed with different organoleptic product tasting sessions.
