The village of Banaue on the island of Luzon in the Philippine archipelago is famous all over the world for its incredible rice fields on the mountain slopes. These “hanging fields” were born through the efforts of the Ifugao tribe 2000 years ago. Using the simplest tools, they cut down ledges on the slopes and filled them with fertile soil. The Japanese village of Inakadate, located 960 km from Tokyo, would have remained unknown, if not for the bizarre invention of local craftsmen. They decided to turn the vast rice fields into real paintings. Only instead of paints, they offered to take different varieties of rice. Landscape designers, using computer sketches and a rich color palette of rice seedlings, brought to life the most incredible ideas. So everyone is surprised by the fields with an area of 15 thousand square meters. m is covered with large-scale images of heroes of ancient legends and fairy tales, fearless samurai and favorite cartoon characters. Some tourists were even lucky enough to see a gigantic rice Gioconda and Napoleon on horseback.
Walking in the earthly paradise
Bali is famous not only for its amazing beaches, but also for its rice fields. Tourists unanimously recognize that the rice terraces of the village of Tegallalang are the most spectacular and beautiful. They are comfortably located in a picturesque gorge, cut by the river. Forming an unusual shape, the terraces descend to the water, leading away with ornate paths. The velvety emerald-tinged slopes are decorated with slender palm trees, sprawling thickets of shrubs and outlandish fragrant flowers. After all, it is here that the world-famous Thai rice fields are concentrated. During the sowing season, the endless water-filled terraces, like large mirrors, reflect the azure sky with fluffy clouds frozen in them. Gradually, with the appearance of generous rice shoots, the terraces are dressed in irresistible lush outfits. The gently sloping green slopes, interspersed with orchards and charming Thai villages, create expressive landscapes from which it is impossible to take your eyes off.

Sapa is a protected area of blue mountains and crystal waterfalls in the north-west of Vietnam. An integral part of the landscape is the fabulous rice fields spread out in a high-altitude valley.
