Women with wide hips are less likely to have heart disease

Moreover, this dependence persists even when taking into account body weight, smoking habits and blood cholesterol levels.

People with narrow hips have insufficient muscle mass to control insulin levels, which increases the risk of diabetes and, subsequently, various heart problems.

Scientists say that it is too early to say that all the advice on proper nutrition and the rate of physical activity is outdated, but at the same time, according to the researchers, the size of the hips can become a kind of marker for determining the risk group.

The study lasted over 10 years. More than 3000 people took part in the experiment. Each of the participants was measured for height, weight, hips, waist, and also calculated the body mass coefficient.

The researchers also monitored the lifestyle of their charges: whether they smoke, how often they exercise, whether they eat healthy foods, etc.

During the experiment, 257 men and 155 women died, 263 men and 140 women developed heart failure, and 103 men and 34 women developed various heart diseases.

Comparing the results, the scientists found that 2/3 of the patients who had abnormalities had a hip volume of less than 55 cm.

“Lack of volume on the thighs is easily fixable. The easiest way is to start playing sports, and then soon you will reach the necessary forms, ”the scientists reassure.
