Women’s panties: how to choose the perfect model

Briefs, hipsters, thongs, culottes… “What are those strange words?” — you ask. These are all names of types of women’s panties. How not to get confused in the variety and make the right choice? There are universal rules for the selection of this item of clothing. Let’s talk about them.

For many women, underwear has become a way of self-expression and self-love. Even if no one knows that elegant lace is hidden under your dress or formal suit, it gives confidence, a light lights up inside.

There are many types of underwear. They are really easy to get confused. To prevent this from happening, the American writer and lingerie expert Cora Harrington has compiled a real guide — the book “An Important Detail. How to choose, wear and love underwear. In a separate chapter, the author focused on the right choice of women’s panties.

The main types of women’s panties

1. Bikini. This is perhaps the most classic type of panty. It is characterized by a low landing and narrow sidewalls. Bikinis can be either completely closed at the back or with a bolder cut.

2. Shorts. These briefs are made in the style of classic men’s boxers. Only they have a special cut — according to the female figure, due to which they fit snugly to the hips.

3. Briefs. Model with a high waist — to the waist. The briefs cover the buttocks, and the cutout for the legs can be both low and high. These panties are great for ladies who are enamored with vintage charm. It was briefs that were most popular in the 50s and 80s of the last century.

4. Hipsters. A hybrid model that combines the features of several types at once: bikini, shorts and briefs.

5. Tong. The front of these panties is usually bikini-style, but the back of them is a narrow strip of fabric that is located between the buttocks. The most revealing thong panties are G-thongs.

What to rely on when choosing?

  • The most important thing is, of course, convenience. We wear this piece of clothing almost around the clock, which means that under any circumstances we should be comfortable.

  • Panties should not dig into the body and cause pain. Does it seem logical and obvious? Yes, but, unfortunately, many women are convinced that panties, in principle, cannot be comfortable.

  • If your panties rub, cut into the skin, tighten the body, leave traces, or even more so provoke infections, then it’s time to take care of buying a new model.

Maybe not right away, but you will find the brand and style that suits you. Don’t be afraid to experiment!

How to find out your size?

To do this, you need to take two measurements: waist and hips. This is best done with a tape measure. Just remember: each brand has its own size range, so you should not rely on universal data from the Internet.

1. Wrap the tape measure around your hips at the widest point. Make sure the tape measure is flat and doesn’t slip. However, do not overdo it: you should still be able to stick your fingertip under the tape.

2. Waist should be measured at its natural curve., which appears when you lean to the left or right. As with your hips, make sure the tape measure is flat and snug, but don’t overtighten it—it shouldn’t dig into your body.

Don’t focus on what numbers you get. They are just tools to help you find the perfect fit for you, but not exactly evaluate you and your appearance.

What else to pay attention to?

Think ahead about what kind of seams and edging you want. Now, for example, seamless panties and models with laser seams are especially popular. They make underwear invisible under clothing.

At the same time, make sure that the gusset (lining in the groin, inside the product) of the shorts is made of cotton. This material is breathable and pleasant to the body. However, crotches made of nylon, polyester, or other synthetic fabrics can retain moisture when in direct contact with the private parts of the body, and therefore can cause a rash or infection.

In general, panties should be soft, form-fitting, and symmetrical around the hips. Excess fabric, as well as creases and discomfort on the skin, may indicate that it is worth trying on a different size or choosing a new model.

Do not try on panties only in a static position. Better turn, lean to the side, bend forward, sit, stand and walk. Then you will quickly notice that the model does not fit well, and you will choose something better. After all, life is too short to wear bad underwear!
