The state of health affects the quality of life, longevity, appearance. For the fair sex, all of these components of well-being are equally important. Health professionals discussed women’s health issues at a round table and tried to give Yaroslavl recommendations on how to behave in order not to get sick, and how to look 100% at any age. Speaking about a woman’s health, first of all, we mean her reproductive health. I would like to know the data on the state of reproductive health of women in the Yaroslavl region.
Dmitry Guryev, chief freelance obstetrician-gynecologist of the Department of Health and Pharmacy of the Yaroslavl Region, Ph.D., associate professor:
“Protection of the reproductive health of women is the most important state task. After all, the demographic failure in Russia in the 90s of the last century directly affects the health of the nation as a whole and poses a threat to the country’s security. Therefore, every girl born in the 90s is, without exaggeration, a national treasure. What trends in morbidity are we seeing today? If we are talking about girls under the age of 7, then the main treatment is associated with inflammation of the external genital organs. In adolescent girls under 18 years of age, the main problem is menstrual irregularities: about half of all visits to the gynecologist of patients of this age category are associated with this problem. What exactly are the problems? These are painful and irregular menstruation, abnormal uterine bleeding.
In women of active reproductive age (and the average age of first childbirth in Russia today is 27 years), the most common problems are diseases during pregnancy. This is due, firstly, to the fact that pregnancy is a kind of test of the body for strength, because during this period all organs of a woman experience a double load and, secondly, pregnant women are very carefully examined, and, therefore, the probability of identifying any even the smallest disease is higher. In addition, in childbearing age, inflammatory processes of the reproductive organs are frequent, as well as benign diseases of the cervix. Women of mature age – 50 and older – most often deal with manifestations of climacteric syndrome. During this period of life in women, the risks of cardiovascular pathologies, osteoporosis, endocrine and urological diseases increase. In addition, at this age, the likelihood of oncogynecological pathology also increases. “
Svetlana Isakova, gynecologist-endocrinologist, Medical Center for Diagnostics and Prevention Plus:
“I absolutely agree with Dmitry Lvovich and I want to continue the topic I started with a comment on how hormones affect a woman’s health. While a woman is young and her hormone levels are normal, she may not notice how much hormones are affecting her life. If a woman feels good hormonally, then she looks good, she is vigorous, she is successful – both in the family and in society. But the years go by, and every year of a woman’s life “takes away” hormones that are responsible for the normal functioning of the body and, first of all, for the reproductive system. I’m talking, of course, about the hormones estrogen. A decrease in female hormones deprives a woman’s body of the protective forces that hormones give. As a result, a woman not only changes outwardly, but also triggers mechanisms that lead to dysfunction of the main organs and systems, which contributes to the woman’s early wilting and aging.
That is why we, doctors, gynecologists and endocrinologists, say: not a single day a woman with a low level of hormones should not be left without hormonal protection, especially for women in the first 3 years of the transitional menopausal period. Many refuse hormone replacement therapy, believing that it can provoke cancer or obesity. This is wrong. Only 11% of women can implement the inherent genetic code for the development of cancer, but in practice we see the opposite – a woman taking hormone therapy is under the vigilant supervision of doctors of all specialties and conducts periodic research, which dramatically reduces the risks of developing any diseases, including. and cancer. In other cases, hormone replacement therapy allows not only to overcome all the unpleasant symptoms caused by estrogen deficiency, but also maintains health, prolongs the woman’s youth.
Since today we are talking about diseases that concern women, I consider it important to touch upon another important problem – the problem of excess weight, which women of all ages face. Obesity is not only an aesthetic problem. At a young age, obesity leads to menstrual irregularities, and at reproductive age, to infertility. In women 50 years of age, excess body weight provokes the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes mellitus. And vice versa: the loss of fat mass by only 10 kg leads to a decrease in the risk of arterial hypertension by 30%, diabetes by 87%.
In our center, you can not only receive adequate hormonal treatment, but also solve the problem of excess weight. The weight loss school for the patients of the Medical Prevention Center is free of charge. “

One of the most serious female problems is breast diseases, in particular, cancer. How big is the problem in the Yaroslavl region and how should a woman behave so as not to get sick?
Andrey Panov, mammologist-oncologist, Be healthy! Polyclinic center:
“Unfortunately, in the Yaroslavl region there is a tendency not only to an increase in the number of patients with breast cancer, but also to the fact that the disease is“ getting younger ”. Cases of diagnosing the disease in women aged 20–25, and in an advanced stage, have become more frequent. The problem is that patients do not seek early help from doctors and diagnostics are not carried out on time. What should a woman do to avoid getting sick? It is obligatory at the age of 20 to 40 years to undergo an ultrasound examination of regional lymph nodes annually, and upon reaching the age of 40 – once a year to undergo not only ultrasound, but also mammography. If the examination reveals a problem and the doctor prescribed a biopsy with a cytological study, do not postpone the analysis and strictly follow the specialist’s recommendations. But the most important thing is to strive to prevent the occurrence of a problem, and for this, do not forget to visit a gynecologist twice a year – even if nothing bothers you. And you also need to listen to your well-being, conduct a self-examination of the mammary glands (for seals, discharge) and, at the first alarm, go to a specialist. Especially these recommendations should be strictly followed by those women who have had oncological diseases in their family. Today you can get to a specialist mammologist in different ways. Firstly, using the compulsory medical insurance policy and contacting the clinic at the place of residence. Secondly, go to a clinic that provides paid services for examining the mammary glands. This can also be done in our clinic. By the way, breast cancer is the most dangerous, but not the only breast disease that needs to be detected and treated in time. Indeed, during life, the mammary gland undergoes many physiological changes. In women, dyshormonal pathologies occur, for example, mastopathy, inflammatory pathologies, for example, mastitis. And it is also necessary to identify and treat in time ”.

Why, despite the fact that medicine as a science is moving forward, women turn to a doctor when it is sometimes impossible to help them?
Yuri Dmitrievich Bodrov, candidate of medical sciences, doctor of the highest category in X-ray and ultrasound diagnostics of the MedExpert clinical diagnostic center, author of numerous scientific papers:
“Unfortunately, in our time, women tend to be inattentive to their health. Waiting, the need to go to different medical facilities, offices scares women away from the examination. Meanwhile, it has long been known that the earlier a disease is detected, the more optimistic the prognosis. Therefore, the survey must be affordable and comprehensive. The success of modern medicine in early diagnosis and, consequently, timely treatment is inextricably linked with ultrasound, computed and magnetic resonance imaging. These methods are the gold standard for diagnosing many diseases. Another reason why women die from breast cancer in the 3st century, surprisingly and sadly, is the low medical literacy of the population. Many women do not understand the causes of the disease, have a false idea that cancer is incurable, and postpone the visit to the doctor for fear that something terrible will be found in her. Women simply do not know how to conduct self-examination, because they have no idea how the mammary gland works, how it changes in different periods of a woman’s life, what diseases this organ is susceptible to. Today we have paid a lot of attention to breast cancer. But the rule “it is easier to prevent than to cure” fully applies to other diseases as well. And in the prevention of diseases, hardware diagnostics occupies a leading place in the XNUMXst century. In our medical center you can get expert advice: mammologist, endocrinologist, neurologist, obstetrician-gynecologist, undergo an oncologist’s examination, pass all the necessary tests, undergo ultrasound diagnostics, as well as computed tomography on modern equipment with the formation of a XNUMXD image of the problem area, for accurate diagnosis and treatment ”.

Our event is attended by specialists in the field of dentistry. I would like to know from them – are there dental diseases typical for women of different age categories? And how do dental diseases affect your overall health?
Lydia Dubrovina, Deputy Chief Doctor of Dentistry “Podmoskovye”:
“The state of the human oral cavity is inseparable from the general health of the body. And sometimes the dentist, working with the oral cavity, is the first to notice changes in the body, which signal a particular disease of the internal organs. Example: a 16-year-old girl came with a problem with teeth mobility, which is not typical of her age. The dentist understands that the problem is most likely hormonal and gives a referral to an endocrinologist. If the patient had not come to us, perhaps her endocrine disease would not have been discovered soon. But, of course, the actual dental diseases affect the health of a woman as a whole. A few examples. Anomalies of the bite and not performed on time prosthetics threaten the pathology of the jaw joints. Diseases of the oral mucosa reduce immunity, as a result of which the risk of contracting viral and bacterial infections increases. Gum problems can complicate a woman’s pregnancy and even lead to premature birth. Periodontitis is the loss of teeth. Therefore, for a woman of any age, a regular examination of the oral cavity is the same necessary procedure as visiting a gynecologist. “

Irina Dolmatova, specialist in clinical laboratory diagnostics, laboratory diagnostic center “DNA Clinic”:
“Just like my colleagues, I am convinced that timely diagnostics not only helps to prevent many diseases, but also sometimes saves the patient’s life – both a woman and a man.
What is modern diagnostics? This is a large complex of activities, a significant part of which is laboratory research. To make the correct diagnosis and prescribe adequate therapy for the inflammatory processes of the genitourinary organs, which Dmitry Lvovich spoke about, it is first necessary to identify the pathogen that caused the inflammatory process. The most common cause of inflammatory diseases of the genitourinary organs is sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Their insidiousness is that they are often asymptomatic, mild signs are ignored and not noticed by a woman. Therefore, without laboratory tests for STIs, it is impossible to make a diagnosis, even in the presence of obvious characteristic symptoms. The leading method for diagnosing STIs is PCR analysis. With PCR, even one DNA molecule of a microbe or virus can be detected in the presence of millions of other molecules. The DNA Clinic laboratory specializes in the diagnosis of urogenital infections and human papillomaviruses, which are the cause of cervical diseases. Advanced research methods allow you to get results within one working day.
I agree with Svetlana Isakova that hormones are the main determining factor for a woman, which determines her entire life. And here, accurate laboratory diagnostics will play a leading role in the success of treatment. Special attention should be paid to the preparation of a woman for passing tests for hormones – it should be carried out on certain days of the menstrual cycle, which the attending physician will designate for you. Tests for hormones must be taken in the morning, strictly on an empty stomach. In our laboratory, you can make analyzes for hormones on modern equipment and get the result on the day of delivery. The conditions of our clinic allow us to observe the preanalytical stage as accurately as possible, which is extremely important in the study of hormonal status. “
