Woman photographed her own birth

Last year, everyone was surprised by Susan Sarandon’s daughter – she wanted the whole process of childbirth to be captured on camera. The actress used the services of a professional photographer, and then posted the pictures on her blog, describing the whole process from the moment of the first contractions to the very end.

But a guest photographer is for weaklings. A new trend has appeared on the network: mothers take a camera with them to childbirth and film what is happening themselves.

For example, California-based photographer Lisa Robinson-Ward. She made a living by filming weddings and taking portrait photos. When I found out that she was pregnant, I immediately decided for myself: along with the usual set for the maternity hospital, she would take a camera with her.

Perhaps the fact is that Lisa and her husband dreamed of a second child for a long time, but they did not succeed for a long time. The woman had to cope with two miscarriages before she could bear the baby. Lisa was not sure that she would be able to photograph everything. But she did it.

As she herself said, describing the pictures, her waters receded at 3 o’clock in the morning. They rushed to the hospital. When they put her on the maternity chair, Lisa, in between contractions, began to click everything she saw around: equipment, people.

The birth lasted 14 hours.

“Fortunately, they gave me an epidural anesthesia. I focused on the camera, and it helped me ease the pain and calm down, ”said Lisa.

All this time, her husband was next to Lisa, holding her hand.

“I was able to photograph the moment when I was pushing! I didn’t know if I would get a sensible shot, but it helped me to concentrate, ”the happy mother continues.

Lisa managed to capture the moment when her husband first saw their daughter Anora.

“He cried with happiness,” Lisa recalls.

The woman in labor also cried. Her own snapshot is the last in the series. The woman gave the camera to her mother, and she managed to capture the touching moment.

And this is not the only story from the series “My own photographer”. New Yorker Lauren Chenot decided to film the birth process of her first child. The 24-year-old woman simply refused to let go of the camera. As she herself later said, she pressed the camera to her stomach and endlessly pressed the shutter button. Some commentators on social networks condemned her for such an experiment: they say, it was necessary to look at everything live, and not through the lens. But Lauren dismissed the ill-wishers: “I saw everything with my own eyes, while photographing.” But now the family album contains priceless pictures.
