Now the 26-year-old mother has six children.
While women all over the world give birth later, the average age at first pregnancy is steadily moving towards 30 years, in England they see nothing wrong with early childbirth. For example, by the age of 26 Bethany already had three children: she gave birth to her first child when she was only 19. She did not plan to give birth anymore, so she decided to put a spiral: after all, this is a very reliable method of contraception. And then suddenly it turned out that she was pregnant, and at once with triplets.
Both Bethany and her fiancé, 38-year-old Kay, were terrified. First, six children are no joke to you. Secondly, taking out triplets is very difficult. Thirdly, a pandemic is raging in the yard, and it will not be possible to properly prepare for the appearance of babies in the house.
“Neither me, nor Kay’s families have never had twins. We could not even imagine that this was possible, – Bethany throws up his hands. – And then there are all these restrictions due to the coronavirus. We couldn’t do what normal parents usually do: buy children’s things, for example. “
The girl managed to bring the pregnancy to 26 weeks, the contractions began. Fortunately, the doctors managed to stop the beginning of labor, because the babies were still very early to be born. But after another five weeks, Bethany still had to undergo an emergency caesarean section: she herself could not give birth, and the condition of the twins became dangerous.
After the birth of the babies, they were immediately sent to the intensive care unit, under mechanical ventilation. The twins themselves could not breathe. Arjan weighed only one and a half kilograms, Kirit was 30 grams lighter, and the largest was Kiren – 1,6 kilos.
“It was terrible – for two days we did not see the children at all, while they were under a respirator. And then we were allowed to visit the kids – only once a day and only to one of the parents. We put on masks, robes and gloves, it was impossible to touch the kids. It was so strange, so ridiculous, as if it was not happening to us, “- confesses Bethany.
No hugs, no kisses – three whole weeks went by. And then the triplets were discharged home.
“They are absolutely wonderful,” says Kay, a father of many children. “Our babies were born in the midst of a pandemic, they were so weak, they needed to be nursed, but they could!”
And now the triplets are developing absolutely normally, delighting their parents: mom and dad are sure that since their children endured such trials at birth, they will continue to cope with anything.
