The 2016 Somontano Wine Festival reaches the Huesca population of Barbastro, with a very varied program of performances and information on the development of the Wine Show, the Tapas Contest and other activities.
During the celebrations, tastings, workshops, visits to vineyards and wineries, etc., will be held throughout the day to promote the cultural oenological spirit of this event.
The appointment that every summer organizes the Regulatory Council of the Somontano Denomination of Origin and that attracts many lovers of wine, gastronomy and music and the performing arts is about to begin consolidating its great staging, not in vain We are facing the seventeenth edition, and it is already one of the classics in the cultural and gastronomic field of the Aragonese summer.
As in the previous editions of the Wine Festival, during the first week of August, specifically from Thursday the 4th to Sunday the 7th of August, wine and shows merge in the same dimension, and around the Barbastro Congress Center, a great shortlist of multidisciplinary activities and events will take place.
Gastronomy at the Somontano Wine Festival
We will open our mouths with the official tribute to the singer-songwriter Joaquín Sabina, continuing with the Spanish dance of the Vivancos brothers, and the theatrical performance Chefs, among others.
On the gastronomic level, the Somontano wine festival will be installed in the exterior space of the Fair Institution, with an expansion of the total area, consolidating the more than 13.500 square meters dedicated to the Wine Show.
Lovers of wine and gastronomy are in luck and the possibility of tasting the culinary creations of the participating restaurants, and tasting the wines of the Denomination of Origin Somontano, is a reality and for this a wide area of tables will be set up, around the exhibition area.
Companies that caps that will be served in this space will be prepared by more than twenty hospitality establishments such as Flor Restaurant, Tres Caminos Restaurant, El Lagar del Vero Restaurant, Sal Gruesa Restaurant, La Feria Restaurant, Cueva Reina Restaurant, the El Placer Restaurant, the Restaurant of the Gran Hotel Ciudad de Barbastro, the Las Torres Restaurant, the Piscis Restaurant, La Bodeguita, the Pirineos Cafeteria, the IberJabugo Cafeteria or the bakeries and food industries such as the Iris Pastry, the Güerri Pastry Shop, the Pastry Shop Canel, Melsa Artisan Sausages, Radiquero Cheeses or Melsa Artisan Sausages.
The Festival will also host the third edition of the Tapas Contest, in which 16 establishments in the municipality will participate to satisfy the most demanding palates.
The professional jury that has been summoned for the event, will determine who wins the Prize for the Best Tapa in Somontano, and may also be awarded by the general public, among the participants of the Route, granting them the prizes for the Most Popular Tapa , and the Best Cover Suitable for Celiacs.
The vouchers for tasting are available through the DO Somontano Regulatory Council website, as well as all the details of the day and night performances that the Wine Festival presents.
