Wine Villa Antinori: history, features and types

The fertile lands of Tuscany have grown many great winemakers and gave birth to many famous drinks. The most famous of them is the unusual dry Chianti wine, which is made from the local Sangiovese variety.

Winery “Villa Antinori” also specializes in the production of the legendary drink, but devotes more time to experimentation, creating new wines with original flavors.

Company history Villa Antinori

The family winery Marchesi L&P Antinori was registered as an independent production unit at the end of the XNUMXth century.

However, representatives of the genus began to grow grapes and make alcohol long before this date.

Back in the XNUMXth century, the founder of an old family, living in his own castle near Florence, showed interest in the art of wine.

The hobby was passed down from generation to generation, gaining more and more scope and turned into a profitable business.

A significant milestone for the family was in 1385, when Giovanni di Piero Antinori joined the guild of Florentine winemakers. This date is considered to be the beginning of the history of the famous brand.

After the purchase of a country estate and a family residence in the center of Florence, Antinori’s products became famous among the locals.

Today, the famous family owns vineyards in different regions of Italy (Tuscany, Piedmont, Lombardy, Umbria, Puglia) and beyond (in Chile, Hungary and California).

Features of Antinori wines

The company mainly produces ordinary table drinks, which are highly valued on the domestic market.

Many consumers mistakenly attribute the brand’s products to elite wines, referring to the “IGT” badge, which can be found on bottles from Antinori.

However, this label only indicates belonging to the Tuscan region and does not at all mean a special position in the hierarchy of Italian drinks.

The first Chianti was produced by the company in 1928.

The technology of its manufacture is constantly modernized and improved.

The result was the original red dry wine “Villa Antinori Rosso” and its counterpart from white grapes.

Both drinks are the pride of the company and combine the best Tuscan traditions with experimental techniques introduced by family winemakers.

The creator of the famous wines was not afraid to change the classic composition of Chianti and include, in addition to the traditional Sangiovese, French varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.

Having thus lost the privilege to name products “Chianti”, the winemaker received a unique drink with an individual taste, which is in no way inferior to the best grape specimens of Tuscany.

Today, “Villa Antinori” produces this wine in large volumes and delivers it to different countries, maintaining the same quality and original bouquet.

In the manufacture of drinks, local winemakers use:

  1. Manual collection of raw materials.

  2. Soft comb removal and pressing.

  3. Fermentation at low temperatures, which allows you to preserve the freshness and fragile aroma of the fruit.

  4. For aging light must – steel tanks, dark – oak barrels.

  5. Malolactic fermentation.

  6. Different exposure times for each product category.

The company specializes in the production of red and white dry table wines.

Among the products of the brand there are still and sparkling drinks, young and aged, as well as several items of the highest category “DOCG.”, including the famous champagne “Blanc de Blancs” and the classic Tuscan Chianti (“Chianti Classico”).
