Wind power plants (wind generators), curbing wind energy

Living outside the city is just wonderful. Especially if you do not pay a penny for utilities.

And if everything is clear with the source of water supply – you can drill a well on the territory of your possessions, what about electricity?

In fact, there is a solution – wind farms, or wind generators, which can significantly save electricity in the house or completely abandon it.

Until recently, they were considered something outlandish, but today such devices have become an everyday reality.

Harness wind energy and electrify a private house without depending on public utilities?

With wind farms, this is easy to do!

The prototypes of such devices are the well-known windmills, but they, unlike generators, convert the energy of moving air masses not into current flowing through the wires, but into mechanical force.

Windmills are built in open and elevated spaces. Their use is possible in regions with any climate – the main thing is that the area is characterized by favorable wind conditions.

Today, having even a small amount of money, you can easily buy such an autonomous power plant that can provide free electricity to a country cottage or country house.

Principle of operation

The wind, acting on the blades, makes them rotate the turbine, which transmits the movement to the shaft connected to the gearbox, which, in turn, makes the generator work, which generates current as a result.

But the wind, no matter how strong, cannot blow all the time, so such systems are often equipped with high-capacity batteries or supplemented with solar panels.

Together, the elements of such a complex provide uninterrupted and reliable autonomous power supply.

Schematically, the installation consists of a high mast, a wheel, a charger, a current converter and a battery.

The power of a wind farm depends not only on the speed of air flows, but also on the area of the blades.

The most optimal design is considered to be with a horizontal axis of rotation, equipped with three long blades.

When air currents, as part of natural movement, hit their surface, the wheel begins to rotate, transferring rotation to the generator.

Industrial wind generator.

The electricity generated by it is stored in batteries, thereby providing power in calm weather.

During strong winds, energy is stored for future use. With the help of an inverter, the direct current is converted into a high-quality single-phase voltage.

Wind turbine selection criteria

When choosing a wind turbine for a country house, it is necessary to take into account such parameters as the total energy consumption of the dwelling and the average annual wind speed.

Also, it would not be superfluous to ask at what wind speed the installation reaches its rated power.

In practice, the purchase and installation of such a power plant pays off in several years of operation. That is why alternative energy sources have always been considered cost-effective.

It is not surprising that every year the number of wind turbines in the world increases by more than 100 percent.
