William Scott (William Scott)

William Scott (William Scott) – blended Scotch whiskey, developed by order of the Russian company Status Group LLC. The drink is made on the basis of spirits distillery Loch Lomond Distillers. In the first year after its appearance on the market, the brand entered the top of the most popular alcoholic beverages in Russia in the mainstream segment.

Historical information

The history of the Loch Lomond distillery is usually counted from 1814, although the small enterprise founded at that time lasted only three years. The first distillery was named after Loch Lomond, so a large distillery built in the area in 1964 was given the same name.

For a long time, the distillery did not produce its own products – all alcohol was immediately sold to other whiskey producers for blending. The enterprise was practically unknown, since no one was engaged in advertising the brand. An erroneous strategy was the reason that the company did not survive the crisis that erupted in the distillery industry in the 1980s.

As a result, the owners of the enterprise had to stop production, and in 1987 the distillery itself was acquired by A. Bulloch & Co. The new owners have been successful in promoting their own brands, without refusing to supply distillates to other enterprises in Scotland. About five percent of the country’s whiskey reserves are stored in Loch Lomond warehouses.

The history of William Scott Blended Scotch Whiskey began quite recently – in 2012. The emergence of a new brand is caused by a steady increase in demand for whiskey in Eastern Europe. The blend is developed taking into account the tastes of domestic consumers and consists of malt and grain spirits. Inexpensive but high-quality whiskey William Scott with a traditional Scottish bouquet almost immediately became popular with Russian connoisseurs of this drink.

Interesting Facts

  1. Russian businessmen have chosen the Loch Lomond distillery because of the large assortment of malt and grain spirits, which is very rare in Scotland. Only 8 factories in the country make distillate from grain.
  2. Loch Lomond specialists were the first to use wine yeast instead of traditional beer yeast in the production of whiskey, which allowed them to significantly expand the range of their products.
