Green pass for people vaccinated against COVID-19 in Israel

In Israel, the country that has fully vaccinated the largest part of its citizens (currently around 57 percent), in March it was decided to reopen hotels, gyms and theaters. According to PAP, it was possible thanks to the introduction of the so-called “Green pass”. Everyone who has received both doses of the vaccine or has been infected with the coronavirus receives a certificate from the Ministry of Health. What is important, only with this document you can sit inside a restaurant, take part in a concert, go to classes at the university or to selected prayer houses.

However, in Israel, as in Poland and around the world, there are people who, for various reasons, such as ideological or fear, do not want to be vaccinated. More and more often, the question is whether it is ethical to deprive these people of the possibility of, for example, taking part in a cultural event.

The question about possible restrictions on unvaccinated people is also raised in Poland. It appeared at a recent conference of the Minister of Health. Adam Niedzielski was asked whether Poland, following the example of other countries, is preparing its solutions in the scope of introducing the so-called «Vaccine passport». Such a document would allow vaccinated persons, for example, to use sports facilities or other services currently covered by the lockdown, which would also contribute to the partial opening of these industries.

The head of the health ministry emphasized that the wording “covid passport” was very unfortunate. – suggests that it would be a document allowing one to cross borders or have a guaranteed right to participate in various events. We prefer to talk about a certain certificate confirming vaccination – he said. Such a certificate is issued in Poland to all fully vaccinated people, i.e. after the second dose. – This is a form of a QR code that contains detailed information about the date of admission and the type of preparation administered. This system is already working »- emphasized the minister, adding that there is also a central database of vaccinated persons.

In response, the ministry emphasizes and reminds that vaccination against COVID-19 is voluntary and free – it does not belong to the category of compulsory and recommended (paid) vaccinations included in the Preventive Vaccination Program. “In view of the above, the hospital cannot condition admitting a patient to the ward, undergoing vaccination against coronavirus” – explains MZ.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health reminds that “vaccination cuts the possibility of human-to-human transmission of the virus. We encourage everyone to vaccinate against COVID-19. The more people are vaccinated, the more effective protection against the coronavirus will be ».
