Is it worth using an ointment for acne scars?
Hello, I would like to ask you about the effectiveness of the ointment for scars in removing acne scars. I have been struggling with the problem of acne for several years and, fortunately, I was able to get rid of it in a fairly effective way, which makes me very happy. Unfortunately, as a result of these problems, I have acne scars all over my face, which I would love to get rid of, but in a non-invasive way. Hence my question as to whether ointment for acne scars will it be effective?
Will acne scar ointment help me get rid of them completely? If so, what ingredients and active substances should a scar ointment contain to remove acne lesions? I want something that will be effective but also safe and will allow me to quickly improve the appearance of my skin and get rid of acne scars. And if the acne scar ointment isn’t working, what else could I use? What ways to remove acne scars will be more effective? I would like to avoid treatments or any invasive methods.

Unfortunately, prophylaxis turns out to be the best treatment. Fast acne treatment helps to prevent scarring. While there are many treatments available to reduce the visibility of scars, none of these treatments will completely remove the scar. The best course of action is multi-directional. Therefore, usually scar cream alone is not enough in acne scar reduction. Treatment of scars resulting from acne should be carried out by a skin specialist, dermatologist. He should select the best treatment for a specific patient and based on the information obtained from him: is there still acne, other comorbidities, scarring level, side effects of treatment, availability of the treatment and its cost. It also depends on the appearance of the scar, its color, depth and location on the body.

It is the dermatologist who should talk to the patient about the best treatment options, side effects and the expected cosmetic effect. It should be remembered that in very few cases, the scar is completely or almost completely removed, possibly requiring more than one type of procedure, and the recovery time after surgery may be up to two weeks.
A dermatologist will usually begin treatment by treating redness in the scars, if there is one, and targeted treatment of any scars that may prove resistant to skin remodeling procedures. The next step is just that skin remodeling (collagen remodeling procedure), which is the gold standard in treatment. This is done with a laser. The next steps will be focused on specific scars resistant to the current treatment and will be aimed at improving the appearance of the scar, e.g. by soft tissue filling methods, additional laser treatment. Unfortunately, treatment with ointments is important only to support other forms of treatment, there are no studies that would confirm the effectiveness of ointments in reducing acne scars.
