The bottom line, in general, is this: drink alcohol – eat chocolate – get acute pancreatitis. Alcohol is pancreatic, which means it increases the spasm of the Wirsung duct (in particular, the sphincter of Oddi). Chocolate, on the contrary, causes a reverse reaction, blocking the emptying of the contents of this duct. As a result, the pancreas becomes inflamed and the person gets acute pancreatitis. What it is fraught with, I think, you will figure it out yourself. Not the most pleasant disease and often ends in surgery or death.
Alcohol + chocolate = pancreatitis
I decided to delve a little into medical terminology and, of course, broke my brain =). I only realized that the Wirsung duct is a very important component of the pancreas, through which the digestive juice enters the intestines. Then I will just stop so as not to injure your and my psyche. Let’s leave medicine to doctors. In principle, pancreatitis in 70% of cases is associated with just drinking alcohol, so a piece of chocolate only aggravates everything. It is not for nothing that in the treatment of this ailment, doctors, first of all, attribute to patients a strict diet, which excludes the use of chocolate and any other products containing cocoa.
So the next time your student or co-worker gives you a bottle of cognac with a box of chocolates, when your girlfriend or boyfriend wants to treat you to champagne with chocolate, refuse. Or do not refuse, but simply use these products separately from each other. Believe me, it will be better for you and your body. I’m not saying that taking chocolate and alcohol will necessarily lead to an aggravation, but it’s better not to risk it. Most likely, a hangover after such a snack will be especially nasty.
