Why you can’t wash in the bath when the washing machine is running

It turns out that if you get into the shower while the laundry is in progress, you can die. Although, it would seem: well, the machine does it and does it. What could be the problem here? Experts say there is a problem.

“If the bathtub is poorly grounded (grounding is a protection that picks up an electric current when it appears on the devices and leads it to the ground. – Ed.) Or the outlet to which the machine is connected, then a so-called electrical breakdown of insulation to the case may occur device, – says the electrician Sergei Privolny. “The water flowing into the bathtub can get under a strong voltage, and then it’s definitely impossible to avoid an electric shock of 220V”.

In addition, during washing in the bathroom, the level of humidity increases sharply, steam comes out. Steam moves freely throughout the bathroom, and if the grounding fails somewhere, it can become a conductor of electricity.

“Therefore, it is imperative to ground the bathroom. Grounding looks like iron wire attached to the cast iron bowl of the bathtub from below. You also need to consider the location of the machine. She should not be in close contact with the bathroom. If there is no more room for it, then buy a waterproof adapter to the outlet or a special protection against splashes in the form of a spring lid, ”our expert advises.

According to Sergei Privolnoy, it is necessary to check not only the equipment, but also the condition of the electrician as a whole: whether the sockets in the apartment are grounded and whether the old aluminum wiring is connected to the new one made of copper. Otherwise, a short circuit may occur, and you will be left without light and with the prospect of expensive repairs.
